Brother, I have seen pictures on www.insaf.pk, no need to go to non jihadi sources for great images of the great lungi march.
Its still better than those pakora munching pajamachaaps that Musharraf asks to go on a killing spree everytime his support rallies fail.
Re: Long March for Judiciary Restoration Kicks off
Kurd isnt feeling well, he will not b able to address the massive crowd. LONG LIVE KURD and our great lawyers!
Re: Lawyers-led march a Fiasco: Taseer: Bilawal’s drive in August
Inshallah, Bilawal's long march will have 500 million people.
Ground reality that another** useless** laang march has come and gone.
Just like a useless illegal qabza illegally by a discredited illegal President came, and now is packing to go disgracefully....another ground reality...
Inshallah, Bilawal's long march will have 500 million people.
Bilawal?? Why should anyone show any support to him. He is only Pakistani by name...he can't even speak any mainstream language of Pakistan. Bilawal has done nothing for Pakistan to deserve any rally. What are his accomplishments?...what has he done? Has he done something for you, for your family, for a friend? What has he done for Pakistan? It's pathetic that that the masters priveleged son will parade through Pakistan while the hungry slaves applaud him.
Don’t worry he will make sure that you’re beloved dictator gets fair trial under the law in front of an impartial judge.

Pakistan rally, unexpectedly huge, presses judges’ cause
By Saeed Shah | McClatchy Newspapers
RAWALPINDI, Pakistan — Mullahs and communists, and it seemed everything in between, came out in Pakistan Friday in a massive rally against President Pervez Musharraf, seeking to force the government to restore the judges fired by the U.S.-backed president.
In a huge challenge to Musharraf, and also to the newly elected government, tens of thousands of ordinary Pakistanis confounded all expectations by coming out in noisy, excited support of an independent judiciary.
The Pakistan People’s Party, which leads the coalition government, has been resisting the reinstatement of the 60 judges removed by Musharraf in November, suggesting that the issue did not resonate with most voters.
“Musharraf’s bluster, backed by the American administration, that caused this situation to continue in a stalemate,” said Aitzaz Ahsan, the charismatic leader of the lawyers’ movement, in an interview on top of his campaign truck, as it crawled through the streets of Rawalpindi. “I think that stalemate has now been broken.”
Thousands of cars choked Rawalpindi, the penultimate stop of a “Long March” that started a thousand miles away in the southern city of Karachi on Monday. Rawalpindi is the headquarters of the Pakistan army, the ultimate arbiter of politics in the country, and also the base for Musharraf, the former army chief.
The rally passed within a few hundred yards of the president’s home, reverberating with cries of “Go, Musharraf, Go” and “Hang Musharraf”. The cavalcade finally rolled into the outskirts of Islamabad at around 11 p.m. local time for a rally in front of parliament, having gathered strength in each city along the route.
The People’s Party, which came to power after elections in February, has repeatedly promised to restore the judges, led by deposed chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, but has so far come up with increasingly complex formulations in what many have seen as delaying tactics.
It is thought that the procrastination has been as a result of pressure exerted by Musharraf, along with — it is alleged by the lawyers — intervention by Washington on the president’s behalf. The second biggest party in the coalition, Nawaz Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League-N, walked out in protest and has now joined the lawyers on the streets.
“I’ve been in politics for 25 years and I’ve never seen anything like this,” said Nisar Ali Khan, one of the most senior members of Sharif’s party, who relinquished a ministership when he quit the government last month.
“If there was any doubt which side the people of Pakistan are on, it has been removed today,” said Khan, who was at the rally in Rawalpindi.
Pakistan’s judicial crisis started in March last year when Musharraf first tried to dismiss the chief justice. The lawyers’ movement was spawned by a campaign to protect Chaudhry, with the black-suited attorneys turning themselves into a potent street force. Musharraf’s patience finally snapped in November, when he fired the chief justice and 60 other independent-minded superior court judges.
There had been a widely held view that the lawyers’ campaign had run out of steam and that the Long March would be weakly supported, thereby signalling the end of the movement as a center of power.
But the strength in numbers and the enthusiasm of the crowd on Friday was a major surprise and is likely to have rocked the government and the presidency, pointing to further political instability ahead if the judges issue continues to fester.
“The writing is on the wall for Musharraf and the government,” said political activist Tahira Abdullah. “What kind of revolution do they want? Off with their heads? This anger can be channelled in the wrong way.”
On the streets of Rawalpindi, it was part protest, part carnival.
A kaleidoscope of political parties and interest groups, together with regular Pakistanis of all social classes, gathered to blow their car horns, sing, chant, wave flags and banners. They hung out of cars, sat on the roofs of buses and poured onto the roadsides.
Bearded Muslim hardliners mingled with the rest of the political spectrum, including one group, the International Socialist Party of Peoples’ Resistance, which even used the image of Che Guevara on their posters in the cause of Pakistan’s judiciary. The anti-Musharraf feeling was often matched by anti-Americanism.
“Just one person, a general (Musharraf) has captured the country. He has ruined it,” said Kurshid Ahmed Khan, a doctor on the route in Rawalpindi. “He is an agent of the American government.”
A car mechanic, Mohammed Ibrahim, further down the road in Rawalpindi, said: “We have come to save the country. If this does not work, we will fight a war.”

Awwwww....are you hurt inside that no one was shot dead during this rally unlike May 12?
The march was a success throughout the entire route. There were no mishaps (something new for Pakistan this year).
Re: Long March for Judiciary Restoration Kicks off
It was a HUGE rally, probably the largest anti-musharraf rally in the country so far. Musharraf is such a zaleel person that hundres of thousands of people changing ‘musharaf kuta’, ‘go musharraf go’, ‘musharraf ko phansi’ do, and he still wants to cling onto the presidency.
Hundreds of thousands of anti-Musharraf marchers converged on federal capital early Saturday demanding reinstatement of the deposed judges in no time. The main long march rally led by lawyers’ leader Aitzaz Ahsan entered the Parade Ground at about 2:15 am while PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif reached the venue at 2:35 am.
As the lawyer and political leaders appeared on the stage, the participants of the long march cried “go Musharraf go” at the top of their voice. PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif began his speech at 3:00 am by paying glowing tributes to the participants of the march. He said this was the place where Musharraf claimed before a gathering in the wake of the Karachi killing that it was a demonstration of people’s power. He said those people were brought by paying money. He asked Musharraf to come and see the real demonstration of people’s power. He also asked Musharraf to listen to what the people were saying about him.
He said Musharraf had not accepted the decision the people delivered on Feb 18. He said now the people did not want only his ouster but his trial. He said Musharraf should remember the days when innocent girl students of Jamia Hafsa were demanding safe passage but he burnt them with fire bombs. He said now Musharraf cannot be given a safe passage.
He said this dictator has drowned the economy and pushed the people to starvation. He said these were the dictators who broke the country, surrendered to the enemy, and hanged the political leaders.
The audience responded to the speech of Nawaz by demanding that Musharraf be hanged. Nawaz said the real issue is to reject the Nov 3rd unconstitutional steps. He said the judges should have been restored immediately after Feb 18. He also recounted his efforts for the restoration of judges and deplored that the Murree declaration was not implemented.
He said the Geo News was being prevented from giving coverage to the judges’ issue. However, the Geo stands its ground. He said, “Well done Geo, we are with you”. Earlier people started thronging the Parade Ground near Parliament House Friday evening and their number reached over 50,000 by midnight and swelled to hundreds of thousands when the main rallies reached there.
Instead of demanding restoration of the sacked judges, the enthusiastic and angry crowds in the caravans resorted to full-throated slogans of ‘Go Musharraf Go’ while carrying interesting caricatures of the president.
During the march no untoward incident had been reported though a helicopter kept hovering for a short while over the venue to monitor the extent of the gathering. The Constitution Avenue had been completely sealed off after putting containers on its connecting roads while the roads leading to the Parliament House were also blocked. Police contingents were deployed at entry routes of Islamabad.
The unprecedented and massive gathering at the main venue where the legal fraternity of the country was set to hold a historic meeting was expected to continue till early Saturday morning.
Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Qazi Hussain Ahmed reached the venue in a huge convoy and offered Maghrab prayers at the Parade Ground. Likewise a convoy of over 40 vehicles carrying lawyers and general public from various parts of NWFP also reached the venue with great pomp and show to express solidarity with the deposed judges.
The most interesting aspect of the long march was the enthusiastic participation of general public with their family members, including even kids having feeders and soft drinks in their hands.
Similarly most of the caravans, carrying thousands of people arrived in a traditional manner, dancing with jubilance to express their support for the independence of judiciary and rule of law.
“This gathering would ensure the forceful exit of Musharraf as the whole nation is united for this cause and nothing else,” said a citizen from Islamabad who came along with his family members. Musharraf would have to give an account of his misdeeds, he added.
“I could not refuse my children to take them along to this avenue to support the lawyers movement and to express solidarity with the participants of long march,” a housewife told The News.
Earlier through the route from Lahore participants of the long march were accorded a warm welcome. The people of Rawalpindi gave the long march participants a standing ovation. Alternate arrangements were made for city traffic.
Earlier, thousands of participants of the long march led by Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan reached the Rawalpindi district courts at about 3:00pm. As the lorry in which Aitzaz Ahsan, Ali Ahmed Kurd, Justice (R) Tariq Mehmood, Athar Minallah, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Chaudhry Tanvir Khan and Hamid Nawaz were sitting reached at Liaquat Bagh people accorded them a rousing welcome and urged Aitzaz to utter some words on the occasion. The car of Senior Vice President of PML-N Javed Hashmi also accompanied the long march caravan.
Addressing on the occasion, Aitzaz Ahsan said the long marchers would remain in front of the Parliament House indefinitely unless the deposed judges including Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry were reinstated, said President Supreme Court Bar Association Aitzaz Ahsan while addressing the long march participants at Liaquat Bagh Chowk here on Friday.
Aitzaz said President Musharraf should watch the flood of lawyers and civil society members including leaders and supporters of political parties reaching the Parliament House on TV channels and read the writing on the wall.
The government has paid eight months salary to the judges and itself proved that they are on their duty and not deposed. He said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) is participating in the long march but not with full determination as was expected by the people. Some PPP supporters including Member Central Executive Committee of PPP Qazi Sultan had installed a welcome camp for the participations of the long march on this occasion.
More than 1,200 vehicles including big containers, buses and wagons in which thousands of lawyers, civil society members and political supporters and leaders were sitting had entered Rawalpindi at Soan Adda. As the caravans arrived people and lawyers, present at the welcome camps, accorded them a rousing welcome. They showered rose petals on them on the occasion and raised slogans of ‘Go Musharraf Go’ and ‘Chief Justice Zindabad’.
A long queue of buses covered the whole Murree Road from Mareer to Faizabad. Large gatherings of people on both sides of the Murree Road welcomed them on the occasion and raised anti-Musharraf slogans.
Common people of Rawalpindi city were offering drinking water, fast food and ‘daal chawal’ to the participants of the long march on the occasion. A number of young boys and girls were dancing in front of the buses on main Murree Road showing solidarity with Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry.
All participants including traders of Rawalpindi city were making victory signs to each other on the occasion. A heavy contingent of Punjab police personnel moved along the caravans to avoid any untoward incident.
Agencies add: Earlier addressing several hundred protesters at Jhelum, about 100 km from Islamabad, Aitzaz Ahsan said, "We are out in the streets to save Pakistan.“We want social justice, we want political justice and constitutional justice. Our movement is to change the system.”
Hundreds of cars, jeeps, buses, motorcycles and trucks with thousand of long march participants were accorded a rousing welcome at Gujrat, Jhelum, Gujar Khan and Dina. The lawyers long march was led by Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan, Ali Ahmed Kurd, Munir A Malik and Hamid Khan while the caravan of political parties was led by Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan, Vice President Pakistan Muslim League Javed Hashmi and Saad Rafique.
Addressing the marchers in Gujar Khan, Ali Ahmed Kurd asked people to join the march for restoration of deposed judges.Up-to 1,000 youngsters of Balochistan are still missing for the last one year, he said.
Aitzaz Ahsan lauded the spirit and courage of lawyers and participants of the long march by beating the sizzling heat for a just cause. No one can suppress the spirit and motivation of lawyers for the reinstatement of deposed judges, he said.

Don’t mind him! he’s just upset this rally didn’t see any bloodshed, and everything went so smoothly w/out a mishap. (i.e. May 12th) Or is it cuz a certain party didn’t get to play the notorious role of “victim” this time around, heck it wasn’t even included in the march of the educated.
The anchor’s excitement when doing the commentary probably pissed him off even more because it’s ‘Musharraf Ka Pakistan’ one-man show and its’ characters on one side and the entire Audience (public at-large) on the other. ![]()
^ No actually I'm quite happy that this rally was a success. I hope more rallies like this are undertaken. I just found it disgusting that Bilawal Bhutto is holding a rally...I always thought a rally is done to accomplish something or to honor an accomplished person.

paki_man bhaijan. Great Bilawal Zardari has a right to lead Pakistan and be its future PM. Afterall, he is the grand son of ZAB, and the son of Great Zardari and BB (Shaheed).
I am glad that the Governor of Punjab, Salman Taseer, is introducing Bilawal Zardari to masses. :k:

Next we will hold a ‘train march’: Aitzaz
LAHORE: The lawyers are now considering a train march as a follow-up to their successful long march, SCBA President Aitzaz Ahsan said on Saturday. He told Aaj TV that a date for the train march would be announced after consultations with political parties and bar councils. He said the main objective of the long march had been to mobilise the country, adding that there would be no compromise on the judges’ reinstatement. There was no call for a sit-in, he said, claiming that the programme provided to the press had stated that the lawyers would decide on the sit-in after reaching parliament. daily times monitor

Long march gets lost on it’s way it seems. Qabza attempt of parliament house fails. Too bad, could have been interesting.

Long march ends without roadmap**
By Rana Qaisar
ISLAMABAD: The lawyers’ long march ended without any roadmap for future strategy leaving many, who wanted the leadership to announce an indefinite sit-in until the reinstatement of the sacked judges, flabbergasted.
The long march caravan that reached its culmination point in the wee hours of Saturday dispersed early morning with a majority of young lawyers disappointed as Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Aitzaz Ahsan announced that no decision had been taken to stage a sit-in in front of parliament.
The long march show, which had already been overshadowed by the workers and supporters of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), became a political event with the arrival of Nawaz Sharif who held parliament responsible for not restoring the judges. Covertly pointing the finger at Asif Zardari, Nawaz Sharif said: “I don’t understand why a resolution, despite an agreement, is not being tabled in parliament.”
Addressing the participants of the long march, he said President Pervez Musharraf should be hanged. “We asked you (Musharraf) to quit with honour after the election but you didn’t…the people have now again given a judgement and want you to be held accountable,” he said, adding that Musharraf should not be given a safe exit.
“Is hanging only for politicians?” he asked and said: “These blood-sucking dictators must also be held accountable.” When he said Musharraf should be tried for treason, the participants shouted, “go-Musharraf-go”.
He rejuvenated the lawyers by telling them that he saw in them “the dawn of a new era…your passion will restore the supremacy of the law, restore the judges and punish this dictator”.
**Mutual consultation: But at the same time he gave an unexpected twist to the lawyers struggle by advising Aitzaz Ahsan and other leaders of the movement that after the long march, all decisions should be taken by mutual consultation.
This created doubts in the minds of the lawyers about the future strategy after the culmination of the long march and they started shouting slogans against Aitzaz Ahsan without naming him. A group of young lawyers and political workers, who had come to stage a sit-in as a follow-up of the long march, felt betrayed and attempted to cross the barbed wires to enter the Red Zone but the administration engaged them to prevent any clash.
No end: However, angered by the young lawyers’ slogans, Aitzaz could not hide his feelings and told them that he was deeply hurt to see them feeling betrayed. “There will be no closure of this issue until the fearless, independent judges are reinstated,” he repeatedly said.
**
However, he did not support calls from a group of young lawyers and political workers to announce a sit-in outside parliament to press for restoration of the judges. “We will fight the war at the right time and at the right place,” he said, and referring to Nawaz Sharif’s advice, he told the participants that all future decisions would be taken with mutual consent.
The lawyers continued demanding him to announce that he should announce the next strategy but he skilfully avoided the issues and at the end of his speech said: **“no decision has been taken for sit-in” **and with this he ended his speech and the long march that started on June 10 from Karachi came to an abrupt end in Islamabad.
Re: Long March for Judiciary Restoration Kicks off
The crowd was louder than the speakers at the rally:
'Musharraf ko phansi do'
'Musharraf kutta hai hai'
'Go Musharraf Go'
Re: Long March for Judiciary Restoration Kicks off
And yet the results were zero.
But why are they protesting...the party they voted in is already in power and surely doing things according to the wishes of the electorate and civil society.
Don't mind him! he's just upset this rally didn't see any bloodshed, and everything went so smoothly w/out a mishap
Yaar kuch ziyada hi smooth thi yeh rally. kuch bhi nahi howa.
