Since our leaders are not thought to have long term vision and planning. Let’s see what the long term impacts this long march will have for the country but doesn’t seem to be good to me.
Imran khan wants to emulate Bangladesh or tehreer square, both models which have failed. In Bangladesh the political parties which were supposed to have been removed are back. Morsi who came to power as a result of the demonstrations was removed after similar protests. Military is back in Egypt, the opposition and government were the net losers of this. Does Imran khan think that he will have a smooth sailing if he is provided a chance to rule the country?
in Pakistan at the most we could have a martial law, I don’t see Imran khan will be provided the country on a platter.
the polarisation of the country is reaching new levels along ethnic and sectarian grounds. While barelvis an Shias seem to be standing shoulder by shoulder with Pti, aswj and other deobandi groups are with PMLN. The fault lines in the country are getting wider and wider.
if the army does not intervene, the protests will only damage the country’s economy.
wrong precedence have been set like advocating civil disobedience, sending money to the country through illegal means and attacking sensitive installations.
The way things are going I don’t see any government completing tenure term in the future? If Taliban lay siege to Islamabad in the future (mind you religious parties can amass more people than Pti), should the government cave in to their demands?
Pakistan seems to be the loser no matter how we look at it.
I am not surprised, but I hope people must have realised (effect of this long-march), how PPP and PMLN and their supporters are standing together to defend the system of exploitation and persecution, as they both live on the flesh and blood of Pakistani poor using the system. When some are fighting for right and justice, both these parties and their leaderships are getting aggravated, and we can see that there is no differentiate between them in parliament or in forums.
Jiyala-e-PPP o Noura-e-PMLN, asal may dono aik hain
Sufed-o-siyah Khal pahnay bhairyeo ke ‘pack’ hain
Khatay hain gosht gareeb ka, hain tareqay juda juda
Dushmani ka hay dekhawa, khaslat may dono aik hain
I don't think IK knows what he is doing. He is emotional individual w/o a plan. Every night he says this was the most important speech he was making. What are his plans for the country? If KPK is anything to go by not much will change even if he somehow comes to power. TuQ at best is a cult leader not a politician who was brought in by ex ISI chief with sole purpose of destabilizing the country. He could not do much, but he smartly hooked his wagon with PTI/IK and was given important platform and elevated to the national level. He, too, has no plans. He said he was going to provide fee housing, food, etc, to poor. Thats old PPP slogan "roti kapda aur makaan", but no one got anything in last 40 years. As for military, they do not want to get involved. I think time might come in when things get way out of hand...they maybe forced to intervene indirectly, but as of now I don't see military coup.
^^^ If it was not for TUQ, there would have been no march mentionable. Most PTI supporters disappear during day time, and taking advantage of low number, Yazidi police could easily throw the rest out. On the other hand, numbers of people with TUQ is not only increasing, but stay holding their ground day and night with resolves, also giving resistance to Yazidi police, and that means Yazidi government can huff and puff, but could not do much.
I am pretty sure that in after math, Imran would not only going to increase his vote bank, but would also going to have support of a large section of disarray and divided Pakistanis, who are part of Sunni Therik, Wahdatul-Muslameen, Minhaj-ul-Quran, PMLQ and others.
I only hope that if Imran do get to power, he would not forget thugs in police department and vampires of PMLN, who are part of atrocities, heavy handedness and killing of innocent people asking for their rights and fighting for truth and justice.
I only hope and pray that once change comes, lot of people lose their ill-gotten wealth and also see ropes.
