I am staying at westbury NY, which is close to long Island. Is there anything fun to do for desi’s ?

I am there for 3 days ? Any recommendations please

Westbury has one of the best masjid in LI i think. Definitely go there for prayers. There is also Roosevelt Field Mall around that area (Garden city) which is right by Westbury. You can also go to Hicksville for Pakistani/Indian food.

You can also visit Source Mall near by Old Country Road.

Shopping - Roosevelt field mall, source mall. Carle place/westbury is full of shopping areas, and good non-desi restaurants like italian, sushi, american if you’re into that kind of thing.

Westbury has the westbury gardens (botanical). Its an old mansion with good botanical gardens especially at this time of the year, everything should be in full bloom.

Desi food - Hicksville is just a mile or 2 away. Pakistani/indian/afghani food options. I really like food at kabul grill in hicksville, choopan has good food too, but their service is poor. House of Dosas is purely vegetarian, south indian food but it’s the best you’ll find in Hicksville. Please don’t go to Copperwok (desi chinese), someone recently saw a rat there :eek:

Beach - jones beach is about a 15minute drive south, not the blue beaches of the caribbean but I like taking a drive there, not many people there at this time of the year.

As spiral said, Westbury masjid is the oldest masjid in long island, established since the 80s. It caters to many different ethnicities, though the management is mainly indian/pakistani, in terms of people who come here, it’s quite diverse.

Finally, if you don’t like any of the above, you can take the train to the city which takes about 35-40mins, and there’s plenty to do there.

Depends on where and when you are going to Brooklyn...

Brooklyn - Drive
Manhattan - Train

Just drive to Brooklyn. Drive from Westbury.. I suppose you'll have to take Belt Parkway... Or maybe Jackie Robinson.. either way its a good 45-1hr drive.
