Unncessarily long ‘engagements’ need to be avoided. Meaning, there has to be very good and strong reason not to proceed with marriage.
One may start taking sweet time looking for job and keep running away looking for better person to marry instead.
Which is fine but why keep other person hanging?
It is very difficult to tell how long should one wait but common sense need to be used. Roughly, over a year is bit too much.
