The idea has inspired me for years but somehow never got materialized (might have to do with my trivial persuit of academics and subsequent worthless career edeavors – tragedy loves mischance). I think it was the 6th grade when socks were imposed as a harsh reality on us, imparting from the idyllic days of hawaaee chappal in the primary school. Not only we were supposed to wear boots, we were supposed to wear boots with socks. This usually doesn’t come close to be a case of child cruelty but sometimes it tiny bit does.
The problem with socks was two-fold (not only literally so). Not only you had to wash them, you also had to keep track of them. Washing part was easier. You would always forget it. But the latter part was hardest. You would always forget it. So you’d end up with lonely socks that’d clutter up your wardrobe, bedroom, kitchen, and even the back of the heavey wooden chest your mother got in her jahaiz (no but seriously, how the heck does a single sock get in there at the first palce?). I was even once tempted to wear mismatched socks to school because of this incredible hardship. I soon found out that when you’re wearing socks of the same kind, they are not visible under your pants but when you are not, the effect is exactly the opposite. Weird.
The other weird thing about lonely socks is that you keep one for a long time instead of throwing out in the hopes that soon you’ll stumble upon its other partner and so you’ll again be able to use them. You keep them around for years and finally lose all hopes and trash them away. Few days later, you actually find the other one.
But this site is good. It provides a home to the homeless, or the lost. A shelter for the abandoned of the sort. I’m definitely gonna post some pics of my lonely ones.
Well it is not like you have any fashiuon sense roman. So what does it matter to you if you have tube socks from the eighties coupled with Gold toe blackies.
well in my case what i think is a lonely sock is actually the other sock whose partner i thot was a lonely sock. so i actually had a pair but thot they were two lonely socks
not finding any pair last week - i searched and found dozens of lonely socks.. dunno what the heck happens and one finds only single socks.. may be left in laundry or dropped on the way or way back from there..

but why do only socks seem to 'drop' out of the laundry.... that always suprises me...
Over the years I've tried various ways to manage socks. I still can't say if one way works better than the other for various reasons.
1- Making a gola (ball) of a two socks - This method has two sub variations. a) You clump up one sock like a ball inside the other one and end up with an elongated sort of slingshot looking thing that looks like Spartans might have tried using as a weapon but then eventually gave up on. b) Push half of one sock into the other and then wrap around the other side of the other one over it (sounds complicated? You betcha. Needs some practice). You'd end up with something that looks like a gola accept that it's not really a gola but a gola-look-alike. Something that Spartan might have to give up on again after they gave up on the slingshot. The problem with both of the above is that when you lose one, you lose both. Hard to get used to once you've gotten used to seeing lonely socks laying around.
2- Folding the two together in a civilized manner like you fold other clothes - Problem with this method is that there is a limit on number of folded socks you can put atop on each other to make a stack. If you've a lot of socks (which you should or else you fall under the category of a poor, miserable clumsy soul and you don't want that) then you'd end up a lot of stacks of just socks. That's no good. Underwears have their due place in your life too.
3- Tying the two together with each other in the middle - It's not a pretty picture, and probably is as bad as other variations of the gola version. They also share the same flaw as in losing one, losing both.
^ my mama would love u.... she has taught me all the above methods.. i see the problem with folding... although thats the method im using at the moment.. the gola one can be hard with the stocking socks.. cus usually i confuse them for one... and spend 10 minutes trying to find its lonely partner... which happens to be not so lonely in the first place..
hmm u could use the 'half-gola' method... so dont make a gola out of it.. just put the two socks together and roll them slightly from the top... but u need to have them secure otherwise they will lose one another.. eventually (depending on how clean ur draw is)
