They only provide hostel bookings for Europe, not for other places, but some of you have travelled within Europe - did you purchase their insurance? Use any of their services? Are they reliable?

Lonely Planet is a fantastic website. Primarily, I use this site to do 'research' on places I am travelling to as well as to find out hotel information on places I may stay at. I've never actually booked anything through this site though.

Yeah for research purposes, you can’t beat the LP’s quality. Have you checked out their Thorn Tree section? man that is one amazing place, vast wealth of info. Someone told me about it a few days ago. It’s really really helpful.

I have travel medical insurance through work. However, when you book your ticket, the travel agent usually asks beforehand if you also want travel medical/luggage insurance. They asked me when I booked my vacations to Mexico.

they are very good, structured, and informative. only negative point is their price: $40
