London underground

Hello just after a bit of help/advice

I live in UK (up north) and have never been to London. London is a 6 hour drive away from where I live.
Now I am planning on going around march time but I am “scared” about the underground system. Whenever I see it on tv it jus looks so hectic n busy and I keep having thoughts like “what if I get lost, what if I get on wrong train” etc. it sounds silly but I have been wanting to go for ages but keep putting it off due the tube.
Any help or advice on how to get around (correctly!) will be appreciated.

Re: London underground

Get yourself a proper little tube map.
You can always ask a member of staff if you're worried about getting the wrong train.
Most other passengers on trains are helpful too, and will give helpful advice .if they're regular travelers.
If you've never traveled alone before, the first time is always the hardest but try yourself find the way,it is not that hard.

Re: London underground

I love the London Tube system. Everything is well marked out and signs after signs tell you what to do. I came to London after many years from Pakistan and understood it very fast and went everywhere on my own. You are sure to have a great time.

Re: London underground

Nothing to be scared about. Thousands of people get the tube each day! Get an Oyster card to pay for your journeys and use TFL Journey Planner to help with how to get from A to B. Home | Transport for London

Good luck and have fun. Enjoy London!

Re: London underground

If you can read and understand English (which obviously you can) and sense of directions (North South etc), you will never lost in London!

Thanks for all the info guys, really appreciate it.
I do feel a bit silly feeling "scared" about it but im sure I'll be fine :)

Re: London underground

One more thing, with the arrival of London overground, the travel within London has become much easier and less expensive as now you can move from West to East or South to North without going into Central London's Zone 1.
