According to Associated press the new ‘terror’ plot is a re-hash of Operation Bojinka- a plot in 1995 to blow up 10 western airlines. But Associated press doesn’t tell you Operation Bojinka ringleader Ramzi Yousuf was under US protection.

If this is fake to divert attention from Lebanon, then why is Pakistan claiming part of the credit for breaking this plot? Pakistan's diplomatic efforts have all been consistent with and supportive of Lebanon's government's efforts. It undermined Pakistan's diplomatic actions over the Lebanon conflict if attention is unneccesarily diverted away from Lebanon.

Come on everybody got a piece of the pie. Heck I wouldn’t be surprised if Karzai is next claiming how he, in the words of Bush, helped “bust these terrorist plots”.
They’ve been following this for several months, yet it was revealed only now, when the timing was just right. And even after so much hoshiari by these cheetay, they don’t know whether the threat is over or not.
They say the plan was 3 planes a day for 3 days bringing a grand total of 9 planes. Wow, these sophisticated mastermind terrorists must be smarter than I suspected if they thought they could use the same idea on 3 different days.

Apparently Pakistan triggered the events leading up to these arrests, when Pakistan first arrested 2 Britons of Pakistani origin in Lahore and Karachi over a week ago. Apparently it was the information revealed during their interrogation that made Pakistan tell Britain an attack was imminent.
Again, given such a prominent Pakistani role - it seems very unlikely that this was timed to divert attention from Lebanon because in doing so it undermined Pakistan’s foreign policy on the conflict.
Why would Pakistan make up information that would make it more difficult to realise Pakistan’s goal of an immediate cease fire in Lebanon?
Two British Muslims arrested eight to ten days ago in Lahore and Karachi gave vital information about the alleged plot to detonate chemical suicide bombs on US-bound passenger jets, officials in Pakistan claimed today.
The details that the duo revealed may have helped to trigger yesterday’s dramatic arrests of 24 young Britons in London, Buckinghamshire and Birmingham, and the massive security clampdown at airports which caused hundreds of flight cancellations and travel chaos for 400,000 people.
A senior Pakistan government official said that five Pakistani nationals had also been held on suspicion that they served as local “facilitators” for the two Britons, without being directly involved in the alleged plot.
“Both the men were British nationals of Pakistani origin and were key members of the Britain-based network of militants. The arrests in Pakistan were made prior to the action in London,” the official told AFP.
Last night US officials told reporters that substantial sums of money had been wired from Pakistan to two of the alleged ringleaders in Britain, so that they could purchase airline tickets.
One report said they were planning a “dry run” to see if the mechanics of the plot worked - and hinted that this was what decided the security services and Special Branch to move in, ending a huge surveillance operation that had lasted a year.
In Pakistan, a senior government official confirmed that seven people had been arrested in connection with the plot, including two British citizens.
The arrests were made in the eastern city of Lahore and in Karachi, Pakistan’s main port on the Arabian Sea.
The two Britons, of Pakistani origin, were arrested a week ago, the official said. The five Pakistanis were arrested on suspicion that they had served as local “facilitators” for the two Britons. It wasn’t clear when they had been detained.
Rasheed Ahmed, a member of the Pakistani government, confirmed that the country’s intelligence agencies had passed on information about the plot obtained from people - including British nationals - arrested in Pakistan.
“Mostly they were British national and Pakistani religious people who have been arrested before and from there our agencies got some clues and that was shared with the British and American agencies,” he told the BBC’s Today programme.

dont know why they dont agree its not fake, and its fake this will be out anyway through court trials in Uk, its not US or PAk. there are terrorists who mess up young minds with no clue in life whats o ever, as parents busy in making pounds in cash carry shops or driving a taxi!
Many people blame for Pakistanis for creating this plot and brand Pakistanis as terrorist though all of them are british., but when they bust such plans, they fail to recongnise this effort that has saved lives.

Since when did possible impacts on Pakistan’s foreign policy deter the powers that be from doing anything they wanted? After all, aren’t we waging a war within our own borders at the behest of the US? Aren’t we sacraficing our soldiers while cleaning up their mess in Afghanistan? They didn’t care about undermining Pakistan’s (read Musharraf’s) soverignity in its own state so I have a feeling that Pakistan’s foreign policy is not too high on their priority list.
Also regarding Pakistan’s so called goal of an immediate ceasefire, please. Pakistan (read Musharraf) would send Israel some Pak troops for its ground offensive if so desired, just to score a few brownie points. Didn’t we just resume diplomatic ties not too long ago?
After all, as 9/11 proved, we are just a one phone call nation. All you have to do is ask.

No - Pakistan has never had and currently does not have diplomatic ties with Israel. Pakistan’s currently refuses to recognise the existence of Israel.
No members of the Pakistani government have been to Israel; no Israelis have been to Pakistan, there is no representation of Pakistan in Israel, and no representation of Israel in Pakistan.
The fighting within Pakistan’s borders is not at the behest of the USA; you may have noticed that it began only after a series of fatal attacks against the President of Pakistan in Pakistani cities, which ISI identified as being instigated by Taliban-affiliated groups operating in the FATA.
The army deployment in the FATA is aimed at weeding out militant groups that have struck within Pakistan, killing innocent Pakistanis.
And your argument overlooks the obvious: It was Pakistan, not any foreign powers, that drove the timing of these arrests by telling Britain that an attack is imminent. So you cannot argue that foreign powers timed this to distract attention from Lebanon.

Let me add to the conspiracy theory:
Britain intelligence indirectly supported the acts and the org/group in front sent these people to Lahore.... Pakistani officials being hoshiar/overtly-efficient (:D) caught them and the plan leaked, when British officials were informed they HAD to capture all those people otherwise the plot would've been successful and FULL attention would've been towards the terrorist incident.

the 'informants' will be the one to receive the get out of jail free card.. the ones entrapped will have to make plea deals just to stay quiet and not disavow this whole "terror plot" deal..
if the suspects were being monitored for two months prior, intelligence knew everything about them and their supposed plans.. so any information from Pakistani interrogation wouldn't be any news for the British.. they were already watching these guys per their claims weren't they?

The apparent trigger for the arrest, the information that was new, was the discovery by Pakistan of the planned time of the attack. Until they knew an attack was imminent, they would have continued watching to see if any more people were involved that they had overlooked during the year of surveillance. And the longer they watched, the more opportunity to collect evidence they would have.
The flaw with saying that British intelligence set these two guys up to go to Pakistan is that it’s only been around a month since the Lebanon conflict began - and even hezbollah said that israel was not planning to attack lebanon until October. It’s even more recently that so much attention has been on Lebanon that a distraction would be convenient. This means that anyone entrapping these guys would have had just about 2 weeks to set up these guys to go to pakistan and set things up just right so that ISI would not suspect a fix-up … an extraordinarily achievement indeed.

^ You're assuming all the dates and details provided are fool proof. Also, if Pakistan's operation in Waziristan is all about protecting our dear dictator, then why is that "aiding the war on terror" is the recurring theme when Bush decides to visit or talk about Pakistan? Everyone in Pakistan knows the real reason behind what is happening in Balochistan and Waziristan.
I think all I remember from Bush's last visit was "Pakistan needs to do more" and also he threw a cricket ball around for good measure. And pray tell, whey would Taliban and militants in the FATA try to assassinate Musharraf? They never tried that before 9/11. Maybe it has something to do with handing the Taliban over on a silver platter to the Americans.
