and loved their work. There was a creative, artistic feel to the wedding videos… something I had been searching for a long time among Pakistani videographers. A lot of the brides in their videos have also been featured in the bridal pics thread on GS e.g. this one:
Questions - Are they based in Karachi? Their facebook page and tumblr account doesn’t provide much info. Do they offer photography and event planning services as well? I did contact them directly but no Pakistani vendors seem to check their emails every once in a while. So just wondering if anyone has dealt with them? What was the experience like? How much do they usually charge? Do they travel all over Pakistan for events?
Honestly, I don't like it.. the way they were moving the camera - very quickly, a videographer know that you can't do that, cause the camera won't be able to film anything... the camera was also all up in everyone's faces.. Just look that the part from the dances, wayy tooo zoomed in to tell how the dances were.. There was also not a single full picture of the bride’s clothes!!
It's really in with photojournalistic photos and videos in karachi - But you need to know how to work a camera and what angels look nice and what just makes it look like you've filmed with your cell phone. You need to be able to balance the camera, filming people and the event properly.. This in my opinion looked like something someone can film with their cellphone.
I agree about the shaky camera… I haven’t been able to find a single Pakistani videographer whose camera work is cinematographic style but that is because they will charge you for the extra equipment like a camera body mount which people aren’t willing to do so the video is shot with handheld cameras.
I still like their work as shaky filming is something very easy to fix. As for the bride’s dress, I’m sure they gave the bride and her dress a good hour of footage in the actual film, just not in the highlights.
Miea - I agree. I watched one or two and basically it's what anyone can do with a decent camera these days. The key is in the editing, which is why they have turned out watchable. As second videos, they are nice. But I feel that people would be dismayed if this was their official video.
The extra equipment isn't much. I wrote about it in my blog because for my cousin's wedding, his other cousin bought a glidecam and glidetrack to use with his £3000 slr. He used final cut for the editing and the result was better than his own wedding video a few years earlier, which he paid a few grand for. The main reason was because laboriously detailed all the footage he would need and made sure he captured it.
^ I think k-bridal can do a pretty good job! Do look into them! and best part, they are really quick at getting back at people! We all know know the biggest problem with pakistani people is that they never reply back to emails!!!
At present, there’s only 4 names in Pakistan whose work I’ve liked as far as videography is concerned: Maram & Abroo Films, 360 degrees by Guddu & Shani (these two cater mainly to the fashion and entertainment industries so I’m not sure how afforable they would be for weddings), these lollipop people and I also liked Fabi Films (who covered Aisam’s wedding).
To be honest, their quality of work is good enough for me, koi oscar film thori banani hai! And this is perhaps as good as I’m going to get in Pakistan, isn’t it? Heck even the 360 degrees video of Maria B’s nikah was somewhat shaky apart from where filmed on a tripod:
The other option is to approach directors like Asim Raza (the vision factory) but I doubt they’d agree to film someone’s wedding unless they were paid realllllyy well.
Anyway thanks all. I don’t have any event coming up or anything I was just curious if someone has dealt with L&L or any cinematic film companies.
No, K-bridal do both photo-and videography.. I personally think they are the best of these days in karachi, and if you get your video and photos from the same place you'll get a better rate, as they'll give you a pakage price.
360, Fabi and abroo are very nice too! but i thought they were all located in Lahore?
As for the best photographer is concerned for pakistan, Kohi Marri is the B.E.S.T
I was going to say the same - they're good, but there's too much emphasis on 'artistic' moments or even just artistic shots of a person's face. I have no idea why Pakistani photographers and videographers focus on faces rather than the event itself. BUT, I do like the video in its totality, it's quite nice! And seriously, I wouldn't be TOO picky about it, especially since you think they're good compared to the others. Any concerns can certainly be discussed during a private consultation with them :)
^ This one’s my favorite. I have a crush on the bride, she’s incredibly attractive/charming. Her outfit and jewellery looks Indian, any ideas where they could be from? Jewellery reminded me of Art Karat.
I recently had the most unfortunate experience of booking this photographer, lollipop and laddu for my engagement and my honest advice to all the brides searching for a decent photographer is PLEASE do not get your photography done from them. I didn’t get any movie made from them so I can’t comment on that but I doubt it if it will be any better.
I think like any other bride I wanted someone who could capture moments n I thought probably lollipop and laddu will be the best choice for that, atleast that’s what I got from the pictures I saw on thr fb page. When I tried calling them, they wouldn’t pick up, I emailed them they wudnt reply when I was just abt to give up on it, this kid picks up the phone n says email me, I cant talk right now. N I was like I already did, will appreciate if you could reply. Anyways getting them to email me the price list was yet another painful story, I think it took him 2 days to just put the attachment in the email as he kept on sending me empty emails and said that there is some problem with my device that I can’t see any attachment. Anyways their prices were the highest amongst all those that I was considering (which included professionals like k-bridal’s and 18% grey). But being awed by what I had seen on fb I was thinking maybe its justified n I started doing my research. I met the k-bridals person when I went to chk out the pics n I told her that I was actually trying to choose between them n lollipop n laddu, n I asked them how do u think ur different from them. She said lollipop and laddu is a new setup arnd 2 yrs old whereas we r professionals. I told her I want candid pics more n less of posed pics n she said they could do that for me.
Anyways next I emailed lollipop n laddu n asked when I could come to see thr albums n he said im out of the city so u can only see them Thursday (my event was on Friday) I tried reasoning with him that I cant delay it till the last day, what if I don’t like the albums I wont even be able to get another photographer n he was like sorry that’s company policy (I don’t know wat kind of weird policy that is) and the pics that were at his office are exactly what are uploaded on fb. Anyways crazy me, I was still too impressed by the pics I had seen n I thought maybe I shud still book them. I was like ok before I make the final decision could u tell me how ur work is different than the other photographers and why such a high premium, (they are double as compared to k-bridals), n what sort of a setup do u have. I told him that it would help me to make the decision. I said I heard it’s a new setup arnd 2 yrs old n I guess ur from Indus bcz I saw it on the fb page. He said “sab ka apna apna view hota hai, ab mein apko kaisay bataoon keh humaara kaam kisi aur se kaisay different hai. Humaaray client ko humaari pics pasand aati hain apko pasand aaye ya na aaye”. N he was like why are u getting into my personal life? N thi is so weird y r u spying on me n finding out stuff abt me.. n I was shocked to hear that to say the least.
Anyways ill try to make this short, despite their crazy behavior I booked them bcz I was thinking that my personal judgement abt someone shudnt influence my judgement abt thr art/work. N that was the worst decision of my life. The guy has made me regret it everyday since the day I booked him. Whenever I would see him on the event, he was busy oking arnd, I hardly saw him taking any pics. Kept on telling him from the stage to take pics instead. Because of the crazy behaviour he had, I decided ill book 2 photographers, one will be the photographer that we usually opt for n one him. I reasoned that this way I won’t have to experiment on my wedding. N I think that was the smartest decision I made. The other photographer was 50 times better than him. I had told him atleast ten times that I want him to focus only on the bride n groom n our immediate family. I told him I don’t want any random pics of far off relatives as I have the other photographer for that. n that is exactly what he did not do. I got the pics last week n im serious there is not one single pic that I can say I like. They are awful. I don’t have any picture of my mom n dad or his parents together for that matter. I think there must b a total of 10 pics of our siblings combined. ITS AWFUL. I told him that but he says its company policy n said ive given u extra pics as compensation. But what do I do with the extra pics if I don’t even recongnize the ppl in them. thr are atleast 20 pics of only the décor, though I told him I don’t want it.
The sad part is I cant do much abt it cuz he has my pics n he can misuse them. Also he forced me to pay him before I could even see the pics (said its not our company policy) though I insisted that he cant just show me the pics on his laptop when I come to collect the cd but he didn’t agree. Im thanking god that I booked 2 photgraphers, otherwise I wud have gone crazy with the pics he sent. The guy is highly immature, please please please do not commit the same mistake as I did. Do not book him for ur special day, don’t let him ruin it.
aww. that is so sad! But hey! at least you can have someone nice on your wedding! I looove k-bridals, my expriance with them was amazing! They are truly professionals!
i wish i had seen this forum before. i would have so booked k-bridals.. i literally begged this person at lollipop n laddu to let me choose which images i want for final editing but he said its not company policy. my other photographer gave me 2000 pics (raw unedited files within a week) n let me choose which ones i want to be edited in final. but this lollipop n laddu person said thrs not a single vendor who will give u raw files. i said ok dont give me raw files but atleast let me choose them on ur system bcz how wud u no which pics i like n which ones i dont n who means what to me...n he said no the client has no say in which pics we edit.. stupid company policy he kept on saying
n ur right ... im sad i lostcrazy loads of money n got nothing out of it.. not even one decent pic but atleast on my wedding i wont have to face a similar drama
also i emailed k-bridals n confirmed, even they let the client choose the final pics from raw files.
i understand if thr is any company policy but then he shud have told me before i made the booking cuz i specifically asked him how many raw files i will be getting n he said 900+
ur right k-bridals is very professional. when u talk to them u can actually tell that ur talking to someone who knows thr job n ur not just being tested upon. i have never heard anyone who booked k-bridals regretting thr decision.. which i think is a big thing.. though i still have to find someone who book L&L n liked it. do let me know if any of u guys no anyone
