India, South Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia etc were all 'nations' when they became independent. We still need to become one. Long way to go.
I think the message in the article was that it was dependence on USA from the day of independence from UK that has brought us here. Maybe we should not have done so or should have taken care of 'national interests' more than our individual interests when negotiating with USA. Was there another way?
I dont know.... I am confused.
Sad to say this commentator you quoted ......did not mention Pakistan's biggest loss of sovreignity.......................East Pakistan....:(
And on another note........India's total currency at one time in 70's was owned by USA and USA simply wrote it off! and let India start afresh with clean Cashkoal...........:D
Thank you.
That's sort of false accusation. Had Taliban kept their necks covered and not destroyed Pakistani areas, they would be safe and sound in Pakistan. This would be "regardless" of any demands by the US.
Taliban and Islamists are being hammered by the Pak army BECAUSE they killed our soldiers.
Please don't go with Islamists propaganda on Pak-US relations. Pakistan has stood its ground on many issues even when USA asked Pakistan for help/assistance/listening.
GW-I, Pakistan had 1 brigade of army posted in Saudi. Paks called them back instead of helping USA and its allies. This is all the while when Commie-club members like Syria sent in troops in support of the USA.
Paks didn't take action against Arabs in Pak after 9/11 and held our promises to provide safety and healthcare to the Talibans and Islamists. It was Islamists tribals who broke every treaty, every agreement with Pak government.
Nuclear issue. We have not handed over the ghaddar AQ Khan who brought so much shame to Pakistan.
Paks went under "military sanctions" (and not economic sanctions) over nuclear program.
Paks went under both miltary and economic sanctions on nuclear explosions.
So anyone who says Pak buckles on every whim form the USA is utterly wrong and simply trying to create anti-government feelings and anarchy in Pakistan.
It was good decision to kick the commies. no doubt in it. We should have prepared ourselves for the "after-commie-@rse-is-kicked".
***Good analysis All.........but I would not go to extreme of calling AQ Khan Ghaddar.........
if it was not for his efforts.........
we would be speaking Hindi and that extremist Hindu Leader whose ashes were being saved to throw into River Indus...........would have taken place!***
