i lock my door only when changing clothes. otherwise it’s open. sometimes i’ll shut it (but leave it unlocked) if i feel like having some peace and quiet or if it’s messy ( ), but otherwise it’s open.
about sleeping – i used to sleep with my door closed, but now tend to have a very restless night if the door is shut, so i just leave it slightly open.
I couldn't stand the locked bedroom door when I was in Pakistan just because I was scared of some ghost who will eat me up if I was alone and the door wasn't open, and that was my habit until I started living on campus here, most of the the time I 'd just shut the door before going to bed, but then I realized that my roomie wasn't comfortable with it and she would always end up locking the room as soon as I 'll sleep. Thus, I started locking the door too because of her, and now I can't sleep if the door isn't locked...see how things change with the time. Now I am scared of ghosts taking me away if the door isn't locked. :D
I always have my door closed. Maybe it is just out of habit but whenever I enter my room, I close the door behind me and I don't like it when ppl don't knock before entering.

same here ..
Aejaz, we were never allowed to close our doors, ever. We never complained b/c we never found the need to close them anyways. My parents had this as one of the household rules.
Now that I'm living with my cousins and I see them shove into their bedrooms with soem freinds and immediately lock the doors behind, it feels odd. What is so secret at the age of 10-14 that has to be talked about behind locked doors?
Anyways, sometimes we feel as if you guys have replaced Hitler, but later we realize that it was for our better.
