my one friend borrowed my older car to the laundry and left keys in there.. . .it was an old mazda 626 1991 model i guess .. . .so yeh, u could lock it old fashioned way. . . .any way my other genious friend who by chance came to visit me was at home .. .he took a hanger and in less than 30 secs opened the lock. 
i have helped few ppl with same technique after that
