well i just want to know which milk is better calorie wise…the local milk is the one which v buy from the milkman and the milkpak is of course the milk in box
^ The ones that the milkmen in Pakistan sell is heavily diluted with water, and needs to be pasteurized. After the latter is done, I would guesstimate a glass would contain about 100-130 calories. Of course this need to be confirmed using a bomb/isothermal calorimeter.
Normal boxed vit-d milk contains about 140 cals, so it adds upto the same. Fat Free/skimmed milk is around 90 cals a glass.

Re: Local Milk Or The Milkpak
even if youre not looking at it calorie-wise, it's safer to go with a trusted brand's milk pak I'd say due to hygienic concerns etc.
Re: Local Milk Or The Milkpak
no tetra pack..so much preservitives :(
i m happy with local milk
Re: Local Milk Or The Milkpak
hmm thats true about the preservatives... but just make sure you have a trustworthy doodh waala :) warna you never know that his containers could be contaminated or unsanitary etc so just have to be careful abt those things.

Re: Local Milk Or The Milkpak
Milkpak is long life milk - with preservatives. Is any company selling freshly pasteuirised milk in Pakistan? without preservatices.

Re: Local Milk Or The Milkpak
FYI there are no preservatives in milk packaged by the Tetra-pak process. The carton itself is the preservative. Tetra-pak milk is aseptically processed (all bacteria and other stuff that is naturally present in pretty much everything that would cause milk to spoil is killed), and it is the carton that is designed specifically to be sterile and remain that way. That is why you can store this milk without refrigeration for so long. If anything, I would be more concerned about drinking local milk in Pakistan due to milking conditions which could be extremely unhygienic (there are obviously no quality control standards). Additionally I would be EXTREMELY concerned with the quality of the water used to dilute the milk, water borne illnesses are rampant in Pakistan and by no means a good thing.
I don't live in Pakistan, but it's a no brainer for me.
