Re: Load-shedding & You

in India, i do face power outages but it's NOT too bad...2 hours a day from 10 am to 12 pm.

**i've a unique way of beating the heat. i go to the Railway Station. in India the Railways has it's own power supply because all it's trains run on electric power. so, they have an uninterrupted power supply. sometimes i sit in air-conditioned train coaches while it's berthing at the platform...i enjoy talking to the 'fellow passengers' and when the train starts moving i get off. these trains berth at the platform sometimes for more than an hour because it's the point of origin for the train. :D

it's the perfect way to beat the heat :)**

Re: Load-shedding & You

I Sleep

Re: Load-shedding & You

Riggght, so next time there's a blackout I'll get in my car, drive one hour to the railway station, go dhakay-kha in crowds, find an airconditioned train which may or may not be there, get on and try to chat up some random passengers only to get off five minutes later and then drive back home, by which time the light will have come and gone again.

As for the OP, I just while away time on the internet.

Re: Load-shedding & You

i try to caary on with my routines but find it difficult to sleep when there is no Bijli.

Re: Load-shedding & You

sit idle..........stare blankly into the space

Re: Load-shedding & You

Normally I go out for a walk or just start texting friends. sigh

Re: Load-shedding & You

Re: Load-shedding & You

First I use laptop until its battery goes off and then start reading a book in emergency light.

Re: Load-shedding & You

Thank's God I live in city where 'load-shedding' isn't an issue. I wonder how people back home survive without electricity for upto 14hrs in summer! :-(

Re: Load-shedding & You

you need to buy a new laptop with better battery life :)

Re: Load-shedding & You

Last evening due to the heavy rain, there was no power at home, so we just lit a couple of scented candles and lounged around with a beer. Unfortunately Reliance Energy made sure the power was back on in about 20 mins.

My grateful thanks to Reliance Energy and Tata Power who ensure Mumbai has absolutely no significant power outages or load shedding year round.

Re: Load-shedding & You

Alhumdulilah we have ups & generator tou Shukar hai Allah ka that even if no bijli we have a fan, Ac etc on.. :)

Re: Load-shedding & You

i guess people are used to now... but seriously its not good :(

Re: Load-shedding & You

true, people are getting used of that and i dont think they complain any more.

balkay agar bijli na jai to fikar mand hona start ho jatay hein. Whenever i call home, i always ask how is the load shedding these days.

Re: Load-shedding & You

here it used to be a routine load shedding for as much as about 18 hours a day and we suffered though that. Now it isnt as bad since our UPS doesnt fail. I think its still alright for those who have UPS and generator facilities, makes me giddy to think of those who have to fan themselves manually for long long hours :(

Re: Load-shedding & You

18 hours of load shedding a day!
Where is this place?

Re: Load-shedding & You

obviously in the land of the pure. it is n't the same routine anymore though. Im talking about the worst of the times when the power used to be out every half an hour.
