Living Through Dark Time

As a nation our confidence, our moral and motivation might have hit the rock bottom, everyday newspaper and channels are telling us either how many have died of a terrorist attack, how bad our economical situation is and/or how corrupt the current and past governments were!

Apparently, nothing is there to celebrate, nothing is there to build our hopes on, nothing is there to build a foundation for a prosperous and healthy future of Pakistan. The so-called religious leadership never had their interest in Pakistan and they never will contribute in anything positive or which can stabilize and develop the country, same is the case with so-called liberals, who only lives in Pakistan to take the cream out in their foreign bank accounts.

The politicians have proven themselves to be the most corrupt ones in the plant, the govt. seems to have commitment with the corrupt people to appoint them on important ( read: money making) positions. Govt. is looting whatever is left in the pockets of common Pakistanies, in the name of increase in utility bills, new taxes and increasing the fuel charges… all in all nothing seems to be working in our favor…

With all the darkness around, there are two stars on the sky of Pakistan rising and shining, giving dim ray of hope to the carvan, trying to guide and show mirror in every possible way, this is what which as a nation we have never witnessed in last 60 odd years, By the Grace of Allah All Mighty, we have been blessed with independent Judiciary and Media. The courts of Pakistan for the 1st time in history have taken the matters in their hands and are doing what they should have done decades ago.

Media the other star, although bit immature in its approach but is pointing out the evils then and there. Making mockery of the corrupt politicians, spreading awareness ( political ) among the ordinary people, questioning the one in power, showing they non-sense replies and logic of the powerful for non-sense decision… yes it have to improve a bit, have to show little more maturity, but no one can deny their role in creating a public awareness and opening the secrets of scared politicians.

Judiciary is active, they are taking actions, they are protecting the right of common Pakistanies, they are doing what our so-called elected govt and parliament should be doing, they are making everyone work hard, be it the Haj Scandal, where people like me were robbed by the ministers and sons of prime-minister or it is rental power projects which is open robbery or even if it is about the natural resources and if it is placement of corrupt person on an important position, they are taking action, they are issuing verdicts they are doing what is in their power to do so…

These are the rays, the stars which is keeping me alive today, which is giving me hope to fight my way out of the darkness imposed on us by non other but the leaders in disguise of religion and liberalism.

I can see that the time is not far when we the people will literally throw these filthy politicians out of the country, when we the people would be able to get our money back from the foreign accounts of the politicians, of the bureaucrats, of the army generals.. the time for them is soon going to be up… they have sensed it and that is why we see all of them aligning against the people…

Re: Living Through Dark Time

^ we need to throw them out of power, but not out of the country... even i say we need drag the ones already outside, and bring them back in to punish them as per law, to teach the rest a lesson, and make them an example...

though i agree that those two are the stars, a bit immature... but i do not agree that they are the only stars out there... like Allama Muhammad Iqbal (RA) said, afraad kay haathoon main hay aqwaam ki taqdeer ::: har fard hay millat kay muqaddar ka sitara

our common public is NOT corrupt to the core, its only that they see corruption and lawlessness everywhere around them, and when they see no or very limited resources (food/shelter/education/peace everything) left for them, they tend to grab everything they can... the moment we feel presence of someone among us who is not corrupt, who is patriotic but not to the level of worshiping the nation, who is a warrior in the battle field but not in front of women and children, who knows how to keep balance between deen and duniya, someone whom we can present as a living role model (yeah cannot be perfect), only then we will be able to get out of this mess... and that someone is not going to come as a miracle or something, we need to produce that someone ourselves, actually try to be that someone ourselves, INSHA ALLAH

Re: Living Through Dark Time

^^ the reason i called them the only stars, because as an institute, none other is doing what they suppose to do ( army is out of discussion here). for example, how hard it is to come up with sound education policy which would not produce brain-less clerks??? but nothing has been done ( little on the private sector but then it is either to expensive or has its limitations)... same goes in other areas of life...

I agree Pakistanies in general are not corrupt, i'll go a step forward and would say they are hard-workers and they can use their brains well ( although few Pakistanies or EX-Pakistanies would disagree to that and i agree with them on this) and cannot only survive but create opportunities for them to develop yet keep the bonds with their homeland alive....

for the politicians, the less i say the better it is, the only reason i am happy on salman taseer's murder is that we have one politician less to worry about now...

Re: Living Through Dark Time

You guys are forgetting Imran Khan -- he is the last hope. He's the only rational choice for the future PM. So yes -- the judiciary, the media, and Khan are three things that can get Pakistan out of this mess. It's inevitable that the masses and the intelligentisia will rally around him when the time comes (and it's coming pretty soon) -- a prominent former member of the judiciary Justice Wajihuddin has already declared his allegiance to Khan's PTI.

Re: Living Through Dark Time

Imran can deliver? that is the question, the reason is over 15+ years of PTI, we have not seen any credible leadership there... it is all about Imran.. i had my hopes on him but not anymore, but would consider him if he tries to get more people like Justice (r) Wajeeh-ud-din in his party, i my humble opinion i think he need 12-15 people from all the provinces and federally administrated areas to think to make an impact, with 2 year remaining in next elections, i IK should start his election campaign get right people in his party... i don't see that happening before 2018 ...

Re: Living Through Dark Time

I see imran as a social worker, an energetic person who can derive people towards something. but till now he has failed to give PTI its own standing which is not dependent on IK himself. Until recently, I only knew 2 persons from PTI, one Imran Khan himself and the other Dr. Shereen M Mazari... now Justice Wajihuddin is a good name noticeable personality. he needs to bring a lot of more people like them, and he needs to stop giving tickets to people with bad reputation in their local constituencies

even shaukat khanam which is a great work done by imran, and he should be given credit for it beyond doubt, but shaukat khanam was also dependent on imran himself, imran had to make an appearance in every single fund raiser of shaukat khanam, otherwise it wont get much needed attention and hence sufficient funds. i'm not saying he is doing it for his personal fame, but he needs to do something to make his projects stand alone and self reliant, and not dependent on himself

Re: Living Through Dark Time

yes sir i agree with your thoughts and by the way thanks hanibal for opening such threads in the darkness of ignorance. :)

Re: Living Through Dark Time

How shoukat khanum will run after Imran? it is dependent on Donations, and most of them comes by the fund-raising ceremony attended by Imran.. so what would happen ones he is not there?

Re: Living Through Dark Time

that's my point, he (and also WE as real beneficiaries) somehow need to make it run on itself... try to generate its own funds like many "trusts" do, also promote the idea that its the job of whole country to support this kind of projects, not only one man can do everything, of course it was the brainchild of imran, and he has put in a soooo much effort in it, he should always be thanked for this and remain associated but the fund raisers of the hospital should not solely be dependent on imran's appearance in the ad or the campaign. why i said this is because recently someone told me that they visited shoukat khanam for their study project, and the marketing/ finance team told them that everytime something bad happens to imran's reputation in politics, we see a noticeable decrease in the inflow of funds/ donations. which is disturbing...they said they are working on it, but how? i've no idea.

Re: Living Through Dark Time

…Like Tunisia, many have been led for decades by repressive regimes that depend on the support of America and fear the discontent of young, underemployed populations.

But while the protests in Tunisia were led by an educated young population eager to expand their freedoms, in its neighbours much of the opposition is demanding the replacement of pro-western regimes with Islamic rule.

The final moments of Mr Ben Ali’s long dominance of his country will be remembered for the drama on the streets as protests that have raged across the country for four weeks, finally reached the capital on Thursday.

Demonstrators ignored a curfew, and took no notice of a promise by Mr Ben Ali that night not to seek a sixth term of office in 2014. Instead of returning home, they took to the streets and the roof-tops, even of government buildings and the interior ministry, hurling stones at symbols of authority…

Re: Living Through Dark Time

^ just want to point out that people in tunisia are not up for islamic rule, they are just against the corruption their govt did. thats another perspective that the govt was very much pro-western and supported by france and us, who immediately retracted their support for the ex-president and gave impression that they support the public uprising against corruption... and there is a thread in world affairs forum regarding why the events in tunisia are not getting as much coverage and attention from the western media as the iranian unrest attracted last year... the reasons are very obvious.

Re: Living Through Dark Time

and if Imran Khan does not inspire you guys, people like Greg Mortenson should.

Leaders come from people and as long as we continue talking sh1t about our own country and blaming everything on the politicians, nothing much can be achieved!

Re: Living Through Dark Time

The only way to look at is the change the business model of SKCH, you need to invest the funds in stable businesses and run the show from the returns on investment.. Ganga Hospital has been running from this model... i believe the charity project such as this should be built on this model to start with.. it is still not to late, Imran Khan, instead of or along with building new projects, should raise funds to start something to generate revenues for the operations... i once gave them the proposal on the same but never heard back from them...

Re: Living Through Dark Time

^ they are definitely working on it now. i hope they are able to do that and generate enough funds to sustain without imran. anyway, i think i dragged it a bit off topic
