So your happy to remember the past thats great but if you want the past to survive for posterity someone has to be living in the past one way or the other be it mentally or physically otherwise you could not relate to the past in any way.
For example those who love History or Re-Enacting History love the feeling of living in the past even for a breif moment… also it’s not limited to Historical nutters there are many trades and skills which have not changed for millenia, they can be upgraded and updated but they are still essentially the same so techinically your living the past there as well are you not?
I think a balance between the two is essential one should be skilled at both the past and future technology and lifeskills if your going to get anywhere in life.
nostalgia creeps into everybody's present once in a while.
humans are 'nashukri' species. We always tend to think our past was much better than the present. Our brain's been designed to slightly suppress the bad parts and bring out the good parts more often...
like for eg..after we get a great result - it makes it worth all the groveling and slaving over books. and then we even miss those prep days ... lol
but yea one should always learn from their mistakes - and then move on ...what's done is done ..there's no coming back :)
Being nostalgiac is natural! and It can be very refreshing and uplifting. However if you compromise your present and future by living in the past then its unhealthy.
We all have been guilty of that. As someone said we all need to learn from the past and move on. Remember our lessons (if we learnt any :D)
Its not the specialty of just this generation. Nostalgia is a common feeling once you hit 35 or so.
Dr Sahb, with due respects, I hope you are not talking about biological age. there are people who are faarigh enough to be nostalgic even in their twenties. Its just a state of mind, or a way of living, rather.

one doesn't need to be farigh to reminisce or be nostalgic about the past. it's human nature. And happens with everyone at at any time.
yea once you cross your 30s you do tend to remember your teenage and childhood more often. But that happens even when we are just in our twenties too :)

I am sure there are people in 20's who feel nostalgic but for most of the part, people in 20's are at their peak and feel the best. They are young, full of energy, independent. Life takes a downhill path from there and that is when you start missing your past
