Dubai is a great place to live, the reason why people like to live in Dubai is because of the business opportunities still available there as compare to all the first world countries ,

1, Trading Hub (free port JABAL ALI)
2, under construction towns
3, Towns completed but unoccupied commercial spots
4, Cheap quality HALAL food
5, accommodation prices starting from 15k PA to 500K PA (suit your budget)
6, Safe and secure environment
7, many amazing malls hotels and developments
8, Sun and sand
9, much higher living standard then Europe
10, Cheap maids, Cleaners , drivers , Cooks etc
11, private schooling for kids half price same British standard
and much more
7, most importantly Cheap Cars and

for you saying this, i’m assuming you are talking about a bachelor living in dubai who does not really have any good activity other than staying home, watching movies or roaming around in malls… OR stay home and read some books…

because i’ve been in dubai for last 6+ years on and off… been on a company maintained big home + car to self paid studio with no car, and again back to an average/ standard living…

as people have already said in this thread, you will love dubai if you have loadsssss of money and you don’t care how you spend it,
but if you don’t, i’ll just give you few examples… if, God forbid, you became ill, and you do not have A VERY GOOD MEDICAL COVER, you are going to pay at least AED 1500 (PKR 34,000) for a single visit to a doctor and someminor laboratory tests, in a not so good hospital with naive docs serving you. another example, have your car hit by an arab who might be driving on wrong side with your only fault being not letting the guy pass by ramming your own car into footpath and you will have to pay for the damage to his/her luxury car because of HIS/HER own mistake. another example, dont let an arab take-over you on road, no matter how much you are in hurry and in emergency, and that arab turns out to be someone influential, then you might get 2 options, either get deported with a lifetime ban to re-enter the country, or pay a handsome amount of AED 32000 (almost rupees 740,000) to the guy…

these are all examples of what i’ve seen myself with my own eyes, or happened to someone i know.

one can argue that you can find similar cases everywhere, even back in Pakistan, and pretty easily, then yes sure you can, but we are talking about how good is dubai for living… so don’t bring in that argument

BUT, having said all that, it’s still worth giving a try if you are not getting paid good in Pakistan, and you are able to secure a job/ setup some work which pays off good enough, then yes you can live a comparatively comfortable life and save more, than what you can do back in Pakistan with a similar job/work, with some compromises of course.
