So obviously there isn’t a right or wrong answer here but I would just like to know, which lifestyle, atmosphere, influence, people, politics you prefer? I’d prefer to hear from those who have lived in both Canada and the US, but ofcourse everyone is welcome. I am curious because now that I have been living in the US for a while now I still prefer living in Canada as everything seems so much easier there, people are nicer, its a different culture that I prefer over the American culture all together. But what do you guys think?
Re: Living in Canada vs. Living in the US
Canada is more peaceful and more clean with a resonable health care and Education. less crowded as well unless u live in the big cities like Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver etc. winter is quite harsh and long so one must take that into account when considering to move to Canada.
i would NEVER EVER even consider to move to the US...it's great for a vacation. i know we have less opportunities for jobs but it isn't that bad either. i'm talking about progressive and professional jobs.
Re: Living in Canada vs. Living in the US
i dont know abt both of dem bcoz i didnt visit any of dem but if i will have to move i'll prefer canada
Re: Living in Canada vs. Living in the US
Canada - Fewer Crime, Higher Taxes, Free Healthcare, Lower Salaries, Fewer Job Opportunities, Higher Gas Expenses, Higher Food Costs
USA - Higher Crime, Lower Taxes, Paid Health Insurance, Higher Salaries, More Job Opportunities, Lower Gas Expenses, Lower Food Costs
More job opps? I'm gona have to respectfully disagree with that.
Re: Living in Canada vs. Living in the US
Why not other countries ?
Re: Living in Canada vs. Living in the US
I know of someone who's lived in both, liks Canada better though. I think these kind of questions will get subjective answers

Depends on where in Canada and where in US
Living in Canada vs. Living in the US
Im a Canadian citizen and now a US resident. I prefer the States more. Everything is better here. Weather, money, gas prices, jobs, food costs and standard of living. My hubby and me always considered moving to Canada, but after a couple of visits in the past year, we have come to a conclusion that life here in the USA is easier and more blessed.
Re: Living in Canada vs. Living in the US
It comes down to your political view.
If you believe that you should pay more tax to support those who are poorer than you, then Canada is better.
If you believe that you should keep more of your money but have more poverty in the country, then the US is for you.
Re: Living in Canada vs. Living in the US

Lethal, this is just get an opinion about these two because they are so close to each other and I just want a general GS view of what people think here. americans are always making fun of canada and i just want to know what the majority vote is. In my own life, a lot of my Canadians friends living here still prefer Canada over the US, but we are in Chicago. dont know about other places in the US. weather factors are all the same for this city, just as cold as eastern parts of canada. job prospects and even salary prospects differ because right now quite frankly there really arent many jobs here and hubby has had many more leads from Canada in the recent months than he has had in the states. but more so, living style and your day to day is what i am curious about ..
Re: Living in Canada vs. Living in the US
When people mention the higher availability of jobs in the US, they are referring to breadth. America is the world's largest economy and as such, there are many careers which have more jobs available in the US. On the other hand, as far as I know, unemployment is lower in Canada so job prospects are better.
I personally find the general attitude of Americans to be toxic. Obviously it varies from county to county, but I like the fact that Canadians are proud of their health care, and consider access to medicine as a right for every citizen. If you can kick ass, America is definitely better, and will bring you success in your career, but Canada is a "healthier" (physically, socially etc) society, IMO. You can be successful in Canada as well, but it's on a smaller scale.
Something else to keep in mind: I was watching a special about Islamophobia on Al Jazeera and they mentioned Canada as possibly the only Western country where there has not been wide spread acceptance of Muslim bashing.

I think this is especially true in the US. Throughout American political history you can see the increase of Presidential powers, resulting in a more central form of government, which is needed (IMO), but somewhat different from the original idea of the independence of individual states. So living in California or New York will be different from living in Montana.

True, but I was also considering other factors like weather, social (desi) life, job opportunities and such. Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, Montreal .. they all offer pretty different living experiences.
