Bankruptcies and defaults are common all over the world. If you don’t run a business or have a bank loan you are unlikely to default & banks know this when they lend you money, but they still do it b/c they expect to make interest on it.

But the way loans are written off in Pakistan for political leaders and influential families is not the common phenomenon all over the world. People can call IK mental case, Pagal Khan or whatever, but he can’t be called ‘chor’.
