Re: Live Updates of Azadi March
@Shamraz Khan
I did..
My constituency was the same of Saad Rafiq.. I saw Saad Rafiq coming to our polling station and making all the fuss. Our polling station was in Defense and was dominated with PTI voters. My own wife was sporting a PTI shirt. He was complaining that such open display of support was against the rules. It all happened in front of my eyes.
Later I found that PTI used that visit of Saad Rafiq as the main proof of the rigging committed by him. When I saw the detailed results of our constituency I discovered that PTI got around 90% of the votes from Defense polling stations where they were complaining rigging.
My servants live in the same constituency in less fortunate areas. One of driver who lives in Walton told me there were no voters or supporters of PTI where he went to vote. Another servant who lives in Kamahan told me the same story.
I witnessed 2 rallies in Defense on election night in Defense. One was going from Defense to Liberty. You could see posh cars, families, PTI flags, music from cars with PTI songs. The other rally was coming from outside to Defense. You could see Suzuki Carry with 6 boys dancing at the back. Motorcycles with 3 riders.. All these were carrying PMLN flags. You could see a visible class difference between the supporters of 2 groups.
Later I found that around 6/70,000 voters in our constituency came from affluent areas where PTI won with huge margin. Some 300,000 voters came from areas like Chungi Amar Suddhu, Walton, Nishat Colony, Kamahan.. and here PTI lost badly.. and all this was confirmed by my servants who went to vote in these areas.
Later when the protest for rigging started.. It was only in Defense. In all the poor areas I mentioned.. there were huge celebration. I know my constituency very well. I can tell you there was no massive rigging. Saad Rafiq won by a huge margin of over 60,000 votes. PTI crying after the results angers me for the lack of sportsman spirit.
In my opinion Saad Rafiq won fair and square.. And the result if there is a new election would be same. In fact now I feel Defense-Cantt area will be highly divided..
PTI’s biggest problem was and still is it has never made any inroad in rural and poor Pakistan where most of Pakistanis live. Twitter/facebook savvy kids were never enough to put IK in PM’s house. Thats a reality that escaped them…
