0039: I think Li may have been employing a tactic I use myself - play so badly your opponent falls to pieces. Venus plays a shocker of a service game and sees her lead cut to 4-2.0036: Venus has a break point for 5-0 but fires a makeable forehand over the baseline and Li hangs on to register her first game. She trails 4-1. Pretty dull fare so far.0034: A quick word on our Wednesday coverage - it is Wednesday, isn’t it Apart from this pullitzer prize worthy scrawl, there will be regular updates throughout the night on 5 live before Djokovic v Tsonga on the red button, the website and 5 live sports extra at 0830 GMT, followed by Laura Robson and Sally Peers against Maria Kirilenko and Agnieszka Radwanska in the women’s doubles quarter-final.Terkaldinho on Twitter:](http://twitter.com/Terkaldinho)“Can’t see NiDav stopping the Fed; looked awesome against Hewitt.Backing Tsonga to shock Djoko in four though.”

0030: “In reply to Anon: You are forgetting that Murray is the only other player in the top 10 to have beaten both Federer and Nadal multiple times throughout the last few seasons, not to mention the fact he (unlike Federer) has not dropped a set so far! Go Andy!!!”
Sarah from Southport via text****0026: Good to see Caroline Wozniacki is coming to terms with her defeat by Li. It doesn’t look like Venus is going to require any retail therapy in the immediate future as she moves 3-0 and a double-break up.

Caroline Wozniacki on Twitter:](http://twitter.com/vika7)"Yesterday I went shopping a bit with the Radwanska girls. Bought a pair of nice flip flops. Then we went to see the movie Nine. Not great."0020: We finally get under way after Venus chooses to take a bathroom break between the knock-up and the first game, bizarrely, and the American breaks serve straight away. She needs three break points but sticks away a volley for 1-0. Li won the pair’s only previous meeting at the Beijing Olympics and is aiming to join Chinese compatriot Jie Zheng in the last four.

0014: “Murray may have beaten Rafa (an ailing Rafa at least for the final set) but any reasonable analysis should tell people he has a long way to go. Murray can never be the fave while one man is still in the draw, and a man who’s been playing sumptuous tennis too. I can’t say it enough - don’t forget about the Fed.”
From anon via text****0012: I’m feeling a combination of tiredness, cold and fury at London Transport after my brief sortie home and I need you to give me a boost. You can do sovia Twitter](http://twitter.com/CaroWozniacki)or with a **text on 81111 (UK) and +44 7786200666 (worldwide).**0010: A Williams sisters semi-final is far from guaranteed, I’d say. Venus has been less than convincing so far, whileAzarenka pushed Serena hard in last year’s fourth roundbefore succumbing to the heat. The Belarussian is an extremely feisty character and will not be overawed. She is also extremely noisy on court and doesn’t appear to give a fig for what anyone thinks about it, which is rather impressive in its own way.

0007: It looks to be a bit cloudier in Melbourne today and Venus is knocking up on Rod Laver Arena in a tracksuit top over the dress which caused some discussion the other night. But I haven’t got a cloudy graphic and, let’s face it, it’s not going to rain, so let’s go with the usual sunny outlook.0005: So to tonight: The Williams sisters can set up another siblings’ semi-final with victories over Li Na and Victoria Azarenka respectively in the first two matches on Rod Laver Arena, before Roger Federer attempts to turn around his recent slump against Nikolay Davydenko. Britain’s Laura Robson faces another busy day, with her third-round girls’ singles second up on Court 6, while top boy Oliver Golding is third on Court 3 and doubles duo Tom Allen and Jack Carpenter are third on Court 18. It never stops. Until Sunday.0001: You can hear fromRafa, who remains a complete gentleman in defeat;from[Andy, who appears to be the person least carried away by his success;](http://www.paklinks.com/gs/either url here)or froma collection of Scottish fans in Melbourneincluding the lead singer of Runrig.

2355: We have a man in the semi-finals of a Grand Slam and a booming economy - Britain is back! I don’t know about you but even the nation’s collective effort in growing the economy by 0.1% has failed to outshine Andy Murray’s performance in beating Rafael Nadal. Bad luck for Rafa, and fingers crossed for his knee problem, but Murray fully deserved the victoryThis article is from the BBC News website. © British Broadcasting Corporation, The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites.
