Little things we can do..

Both Eids this year i do not intend to buy new clothes. Instead i will be donating the money to charity. I have so many new dresses that i could wear any and the money could be of use to someone who needs it more.

My wedding lehngas. I’m hoping to find a charity that allocates lehngas to the poor. I know many will think they’re a memory and should be kept but ‘one’ bharat day memory is stuffed away in a bag somewhere in england and the other walima lehnga here in the back of my wardrobe and it hardly sees the light of day. Again it could be of better use to someone else. Anyone know any charities that collect lehngas or where one could send them off to ?

You all can add your suggestions here as well of course :=)

Re: Little things we can do..

I think Ehdi is the best place in pakistan for any kind of donnation. Besides if you have relatives in pakistan who know of needy people like a maid's daughter getting married or something, then you can give it out on your own.

Re: Little things we can do..

when it comes to donating extravagant stuff like wedding and eid dresses i would advise you to give it to someone who you really trust so you can be sure it ends up in the right hands. give the dress to a family member who in turn can give it to a maid like lussi said instead of edhi centers etc where the chances of the collectors giving it to one of their family members is high....i am not saying that this is bound to happen, and the thought does count but in the end the deed should also serve its purpose so we should think twice about making a hasty charitable contribution......

Re: Little things we can do..

DD- While your donation will go to help soemone in need in general, but at this time you are better off giving away warm jackets, and top coats than shaadi lehngas.
