Listening Holy Qur'an played in Audio

:salam2:

There is a great rewards those who read Qur’an, but those who knows what they are reading will be rewarded more i.e., understand or try to understand what that particular verse is meant when they read it with understanding. On the other hand, we do listen prerecorded recitation of Holy Quran recitation in shape of audio/video.

For example: by playing in on our laptops, computers, radios, mobiles, in cars, on TVs etc. In that case we only listen to the recitation of Holy Quran but in actually we don’t read, even if we read in our hearts or by uttering aloud then have we really understood what we are reading i.e., which verse from which chapter and that verse/chapter is meant for what?

I think where these inventions i.e., laptops, computers, radios, digital Qur’an, prerecorded recitations etc., made our life easier, on the other hand it actually made us more lazy and away from our religion too, in very effectively and very slowly without even letting us know that we are getting away. :hmmm:

Here i’m not saying that these inventions are bad, neither I meant that do not listen the prerecorded recitation. No, I didn’t meant that all. But I would like to draw your kind attention towards that there is difference between reading by ourselves and listening to prerecorded recitation.

For example: When I read Qur’an by myself and don’t just listen to prerecorded recitation then foremost I stop wherever I wanna stop and I stop b’coz that particular verse, or a single word draw my attention towards it and I that day I learned something new and out of curiosity, I share it with others or post about it on GS to have discussion with others and get their opinions. That what I think is called “And understand your religion”.

But if I just listen the recitation only then I might be not going to pause the recitation b’coz (1) in reality i’m not reading by myself and (2) and i’m just listening to it. So I ask myself, have I learned something new, today?

Hope I was able to explain my point.

Re: Listening Holy Qur'an played in Audio

Walaikum Salaam,

Do not underestimate the blessings of the most blessed book for a believer. It may be that one listening to it might be effected by it in a superior way than one who recites with perfection. If the recipient's heart is open, Quran in any form will penetrate the heart and inshaAllah become beneficial.

Believe me akhi. Often listening to Quran leads to a trail of tears that are nowhere to be seen while reciting, and vice versa. Most important factor in all this is Allah's mercy, if Allah wills Quran will have an everlasting affect on the one reciting and/or the one listening. If Allah's mercy lacks, you could recite it with perfection, and....well I dare not say anymore.

Astagfirullah.

Peace teggy,

:jazak: for your kind words. In mine and your post, where are these words “struggle & assiduity” for our religion? That’s what make me sad. :frowning:

When we were in school, we were bound to memorize complete syllabus of that year so that we may prepare ourselves for final exams (we have books, we write notes etc.,). At that time we don’t listen the syllabus in audio, nor see it on TV, however, we were forced by our parents/elders/teachers to do ‘struggle & assiduity’, so that we may pass in our exams, and that is till today, going on.

Before coming to the part of listening, why don’t we start reading Holy Qur’an like we were ordered “the best among us is he who learn and teach Quran”. Everyday we learn and teach each others many many things, so why don’t we learn and teach Holy Qur’an?

It’s not only related to just listening but also related to many many other things like if we want to read Qu’ran then we must be in state of ablution (wudu) and before ablution ‘Tahara (ghusal, if required)’ is mandatory. After that we read a verse and understand it, then we share/teach it to the one who is very close to us like our parents/brother/sister and that is in case if they have time to listen to us and not busy in their activities/social life :)… and discussion continue. <---- This is related one to many.

Whereas listening to a prerecorded recitation, first of all there is no need to be in state of ablution, which means we don’t have to hold/carry the book [Holy Qur’an] and beside listening, we can do many other things <---- This is related to one only.

That’s the whole point.

Re: Listening Holy Qur'an played in Audio

I understand what you mean.

This is where I feel the mercy of Allah is most vital, most essential. You (Alhamdulillah) may be lucky enough to have felt the sweetness of what it feels to recite even a verse, to understand even a verse. You may have been blessed with mercy of Allah (swt) to have the eagerness to spread what you have learned, for your own salvation. But if that mercy of Allah has not extended to others;......(think for a moment)....

There's nothing, absolutely Nothing you can do to make others feel what you feel. You will get ajr for trying, you may run out of breath trying to speak how you feel, but if the ears you're speaking to are sealed, it is as if you're speaking with a body whose soul is absent at the moment. It's a very very tough thing. Recall the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w)'s guardian Uncle, he could not be guided because Allah's mercy did not extend. :( Yet sons of Quraish's chiefs became some of the closest companions of the Prophet (s.a.w.).

Guidance of Allah (swt) is such a blessing. We can never thank Allah (swt) enough for just this one blessing alone. This one blessing either puts you on the path to success, or lack of it puts you on the path to failure.

May Allah guide me, you, others, and everyone we all know to that which leads to success in this world and the hereafter.

Peace teggy,

Ameen & :jazak: for your sweet wording. May Almighty Allah bless you with good health & knowledge. Ameen.

Your phrase … (think for a moment)… and… nothing I can do to make others feel what I feel. I agree with that 100%.

There are lot of things/changes occurred in myself and I would love to share with you guyz but that will be too personal so I hope u don’t mind if I didn’t share. In conclusion I’ll add that everyday I ask myself what is the purpose of my life?
