There is a great rewards those who read Qur’an, but those who knows what they are reading will be rewarded more i.e., understand or try to understand what that particular verse is meant when they read it with understanding. On the other hand, we do listen prerecorded recitation of Holy Quran recitation in shape of audio/video.
For example: by playing in on our laptops, computers, radios, mobiles, in cars, on TVs etc. In that case we only listen to the recitation of Holy Quran but in actually we don’t read, even if we read in our hearts or by uttering aloud then have we really understood what we are reading i.e., which verse from which chapter and that verse/chapter is meant for what?
I think where these inventions i.e., laptops, computers, radios, digital Qur’an, prerecorded recitations etc., made our life easier, on the other hand it actually made us more lazy and away from our religion too, in very effectively and very slowly without even letting us know that we are getting away. ![]()
Here i’m not saying that these inventions are bad, neither I meant that do not listen the prerecorded recitation. No, I didn’t meant that all. But I would like to draw your kind attention towards that there is difference between reading by ourselves and listening to prerecorded recitation.
For example: When I read Qur’an by myself and don’t just listen to prerecorded recitation then foremost I stop wherever I wanna stop and I stop b’coz that particular verse, or a single word draw my attention towards it and I that day I learned something new and out of curiosity, I share it with others or post about it on GS to have discussion with others and get their opinions. That what I think is called “And understand your religion”.
But if I just listen the recitation only then I might be not going to pause the recitation b’coz (1) in reality i’m not reading by myself and (2) and i’m just listening to it. So I ask myself, have I learned something new, today?
Hope I was able to explain my point.
