Lips

I need some sort of exfoliant for my lips. They don’t feel smooth. I googled and found some natural suggestions … first was to brush my lips gently with my toothbrush after putting some oil on my lips. Another suggestion was to massage some course sugar on the lips and then rinse it off. Tried that, but it provided temporary relief.

I guess the lipsticks I use are drying out my lips … I normally wear MAC or MUF lipsticks. I don’t like lip balms.

So, what do you suggest I do to get smooth lips back? They feel rough. I’m not a happy camper. :frowning:

Re: Lips

I dont like the feeling I get after I “brush” my lips. Vaseline always does the trick for me.

Re: Lips

I was watching Dr. Oz a few weeks back, maybe it was last week, and he said vaseline can cause cancer. In fact, any type of petroleum jelly on the skin causes cancer.

Vaseline doctor’s orders? Got cancer?-

The Body Shop's lip-buff, it's fantastic!

Re: Lips

^ I dont think there are any hard facts about that though. Because honestly if there were, doctors would stop recommending vaseline for their patients.

Dermatologist's who are the skin experts/skin doctors out there are the ones that tell patients with very dry skin to use vaseline on it. And the AMA still goes on record as listing it as something to treat severely dry skin with.

If there was some solid research and facts that were found on this - I think this product would have been pulled from the market or AT LEAST had some warning labels placed on it by the FDA. But it hasn't ....

I feel like Dr. Oz is one of those people that has his own agenda and says stuff for his own personal gain. For all we know he has deals with certain pharmaceutical companies that make "organic" things ... thus in order to promote that and increase sales - he will go on "record" by saying something causes cancer even though medical associations and Food & Drug Administration dont have anything negative to say.

My dad is a physician and a couple of his patients have come to him with crap that heard Dr. Oz "recommend" and its all a farce my dad says. My dad has seriously been shocked by some of the things this dude recommends on TV. Dr. Oz practices "alternative medicine" and most legit practicing doctors believe that he is basically promoting UNPROVEN and even potentially harmful things.

So with that in mind... I wouldn't really take anything this dude says too seriously.....

Body Shop's Lip Balm

Re: Lips

Is it true certain petroleum jelly products have been banned in Europe?

Gina, I willl try that lip balm from The Body Shop. Thanks!

Re: Lips

I don't like vaseline either. After it wears off, it leaves my lips feeling even more dry.

I use Neutrogena Norwegian Formula 6 hour lip balm that comes in a tube. Not sticky and smells nice.

I used to use a Roc one that was like £13 but they stopped making it. Then I saw this Neutrogena one.. same packaging, same consistency and colour. Then I saw the back, both Johnson&Johnson and the same address. And this stuff was only £3, cheeky buggers!

Re: Lips

^lol

b4 u go to bed use any lip balm or lip exfoliator for the lips, leave on for 5-10 minutes and use a hot damp towel (rough) to scrub of the dry skin. should work

Re: Lips

I went to the store at lunch time to see what they had available ... they didn't have the Neutrogena lip balm. I ended up getting a lip balm by Burt's Bee. It's a replenishing lip balm with pomengrate oil ... let's see how this works.

Re: Lips

update … my lips feel divine … luv this lip balm. it’s all natural ingredients too.
