Liposuction

Someone I know is seriously considering liposuction. She even scheduled a consultation for tomorrow. She’s 5’7.. 26 years old… and weighs a little over 180 lbs… now the thing is, she just wants to get rid of her upper body weight… thats the most stubborn weight she’s got… while her legs are still bulky she’s said she’d be happy to take her time in losing that… now what I dont get is… is that even possible? For them to shrink her upper body and leave the lower as is? Wont it look weird and unproportioned? And what kind of questions should she ask to make sure that its a professional she’s dealing with and not some dude whose gonna give her a botched job? Ive already tried to convince her not to do it, but her heart is set on this.

Re: Liposuction

Show her a video of "real liposuction procedure especially after they wake up and the recovery...Man they scrape your skin from the underneath...imagine that...its all blue and bruisy and hurts all over...Is it worth it? not to mention the risk General Anesthesia come with to begin with.
It should definitely be a no.

Re: Liposuction

So hey did your friend go thru with it?
What were the results? I hope it all worked out:)
Anyway most of the times when people are happy about one thing they decide to have other stuff done too. Make sure your friend does not go to much into that...don't let your friend change her complete appearance...certain things should stay the original way.
Good luck:)

Re: Liposuction

natural things .......dont ever go for surgery's and stuff

a 26 year old having liposuction?! yikes!

Re: Liposuction

she went for the consultation today… monday is the blood test and physical and after that the date will be set for the lipo. Lets see how it goes :bummer:

There’s no anesthesia involved, patient walks out of the office fine and dandy, and can resume work and regular activity after 24 hrs.

Re: Liposuction

hey its too early to do this......she is young she can lose weight through her proper diet....

Re: Liposuction

I still think it is too dangerous...The person should at least give regular diets and exercise a good year before going to any of such invasive procedures

Re: Liposuction

thts very true....juz keep ur diet healthy and a regular exercise...

Re: Liposuction

yeah exercise is much better

Re: Liposuction

Ill have to ask her but I doubt she'd be up for it.

Re: Liposuction

She went for her second consultation today where she was supposed to pay 50% upfront before the actual procedure is done. Last time she spoke to him he told her its $2000 PER AREA.. and she wanted just her lovehandles and back rolls.. so he quoted 4000... and he told her to bring $2000 for todays appt. According to what she told me, she called him a couple days ago and told him she'd only be getting teh lovehandles done first, and backrolls maybe in a few weeks. He told her fine. So today was the blood test, he asks her how much he quoted her last time, she told him $2000 he said ok, drew blood, took the deposit, and before giving her the receipt asked to see the area again. This time he quoted her $2700. He said last time he gave her a good price cuz she was having more than one area done blah blah blah and that theres a lot of cost involved everytime they open a package for the procedure. She believed him, but I think he just fooled her... what do you guys think? cuz how could he go from 2000 to 2700 all of a sudden? Something sounds fishy.. or am I being suspicious for no reason?

And it doesnt help that she never went to see another doctor about all this before you know like a second opinion to compare the costs with.

I keep telling her that she should just schedule another consultation with a separate doctor first adn tehn go back to this guy if anything... and if the 2nd opinion doctor happens to be cheaper.. she should ask for a refund for her $1000. She doesnt think he'd give it back to her though... is that like, legal?? Deposit doesnt mean that the doctor gets to keep the money even if you end up not wanting/having the procedure... right???

*oh and another thing, finally in the end he realized that she wasnt so willing to pay $2700 for just the lovehandles and told her that he'd work out a deal with her... tuesday when she goes for the blood test results... he said she should bring another $2000... he said he'd do the backrolls and the lovehandles together for the $4000 that he initially told her... and that she'd pay $3000 altogether and he'd give her 2 months time to pay the remainder of the $1000 in installments. Basically how thats gonna be done is he makes her just sign some random paper saying she owes him that money. Does it sound right to you guys? But when she came home she was having second thoughts and decided just to have the lovehandles.. she's gonna wait for the underbra back roll fat stuff for a while...

Ok hope it makes sense.

Re: Liposuction

she is ONLY 26! she doesnt need to get lipo right now! does she have any kids? she can easily get rid of it by eating properly and working out. She just wants the quick and easy way to get rid of it.

I recently heard on the news about 2 incidents where someone died due to this procedure...it may not be very common but it does happen...a chance I am not willing to take....especially when she is young and can try other things to rid the fat.

Re: Liposuction

  • Yeah she has one kid. I told her about these risks but supposedly this procedure doesnt involve any blood drainage or something.. to be honest I dont know much about this stuff so I might be confusing details.. but she said its something called tumesent lipo and they just inject you with some stuff and draw out the fat. No anesthesia and everything.. she just has to take vitamins and antibiotics two days prior to the procedure. I hope somehow she changes her mind or that the doctor at least knows what hes doing.

Re: Liposuction

There are other ways of loosing weight and this one is worst of them.

If she eats raw vegetables/ fruits for 6 months and exercise she will loose 50% of weight in no time.

Re: Liposuction

Before going into any kind of surgery or similar situations, one should always get more than one doctor's opinion --- preferably three.
So she must look into talking to some more specialists before she jumps to any decisions.

As for her wanting lipo -- I see nothing wrong with it. Who cares if she's 26? It's her body, she can do whatever the hell she pleases. Too young, too old --- Geez, seriously, get over it.
