Alright ladies, just for the fun of it…which lipstick colors do you gravitate toward the most?
We all have that one color that pulls us in like a moth to flame. The one we end up buying…though there are SEVERAL similar shades in our collection. :halo:
With mom, it’s a Fuschia’ish color…she’ll buy it…and show it to me…and it’s funny cuz she has so many more lipsticks already at home in the same color range.
Face it, we all have a “type.” For me, it’s the browns…or the muted pinky-browns…I even like reddish browns or purply-browns. I love a brown base. More recently though…I’ve developed an orange-festish.
I avoid fuschias and magentas. Candy Yum Yum and Girl About Town may be cult favorites but they don’t appeal to me. They scare me.
So ladies…which colors do you gravitate toward most and which do you avoid like the plague?
I'm pulled towards Mac's brave and half and half kind of shades. No matter how hard I try I feel comfortable wearing these colors everyday.
Reds and oranges I do for parties and formal dinners only!
I don't wear lipstick often but when I do, my favorite go to colors at the moment are matte brick red and dusty rose. I avoid magenta, bright pink, or very nude colors.
I'm like your Mum, RV.. I love hot pink.. I feel more confortable with those than a classic red.. Don't feel that I can pull that off very well.. If I wear red I'll go burgundy rather than classic fire-engine red..

I have issues with wearing lipstick still- :/ I usually wear a liptint with gloss on top, and gravitate towards berry/pink shades more- i feel they brighten up my look very much. Recently tried stila's beso- looks amazing but bit too bright for everyday use..
Does anyone ever wear lipstick and feel it's too much, then smudge it a bit with tissue? This always ends up happening when I actually do wear lipstick
^I go thru phases in terms of texture more so than colors. For a long time I went thru the natural looking lip tint/ stain phase. Now I am back into the mattes.
I'm still going through 'my lips but better' phase, so I continue to gravitate towards soft pinkish shades that look really light and refreshing during the day, and blends in very well with my natural lip colour.
For evenings or dressing up - it's still sticking to the good old reds.
I actually don't really like wearing lipsticks (although I love buying them) but 90% of the time, I'd just settle with tinted lip balms, evening for the evening and formal occasions.

if its too much i feel than i just keep rubbing my lips together until its blends in really well into my purpley mauve cool toned lips and that tones it down.

I'm still going through 'my lips but better' phase,
I just branched out of that phase..though haven 't left it completely...and rekindled my love for mattes. But even among mattes, I like the shade that look natural on me rather than loud.
As for the "my lip color but better"...I love the Burts Bees' tinted lip balm in Red Dahlia. I'm on my 3rd or 4th tube. And I also love Ulta's lip stain pen in Suspense. There's no sheen to it so it really looks like your own lip color but enhanced. I bought my 2nd tube of it and intuition tells me that it will soon be discontinued and that I should maybe buy a couple more. Yeah I really think there's a thing as consumer's intuition and me gut suspects that Ulta won't keep churning em out. :/
Teen years/early twenties it was always dark maroon with purple tint no matter which brand. Now no specific lip shade. Anything that goes with my dress but very simple shades closest to natural. I think I have gone through personality change. My taste has changed in almost everything. Now I love all shades of purple in other things. But in lip-ishtiks, very lighter tones. I prefer to use make tools to accentuate natural features of the face & shape of lips. Eg; using nudes outsides of the lips edges looks pretty.
My mom had ‘Diva’ and she gave it to me saying that its more burgundy than a brown (Ammi only wears dark brownish shades) So I tried it on for a party at my place, when I came down before the guests arrived, my husband got so freaked out since I never ever wear such bold colours so I just took it off…I’m gonna try it again
