Sara, first thing to do is go to your doc... like people have mentioned above, there could be an underlying cause. When we were younger, my sister used to get this on and off, and it was always to do with her iron levels.... but it could be something else for you, so check with the GP.
Secondly, the best thing to use on your lips is petroleum jelly i.e VASELINE!! i've said it so many times... the only things i've ever used on my lips to nourish is vaseline.....i don't believe in all these colourful fancy packaged lip balms and salves as they contain loads of crap... you could be having an allergic reaction to something like cocamidopropyl betaine.... so i suggect sticking to something pure like Vaseline... it has one ingredient only and it's my miracle worker... apply throughout the day, but really apply thickly at night to nourish and hydrate the area.
And try not to lick your lips... tempting but it'll make it worse... just thap on the vaseline :)
I only use vaseline, but it's not really alleviating my conditon right now..agh.
i tried olive oil, noc hange. only thing that's SLIGHTLY made it better is this vitamin E gel from Johnson's and johson's..its sposed to be like baby oil but in a gel form, so i guess its as pure as baby oil....
so hard t no tlick lips and chew on the skin (ok i know that was tMI*!)
