Re: Lions/Tigers in Sindh
Sindh is separated from Gujarat by swamplands, and then it is desert for a while.** Lions live in forested grasslands, Tigers are from rainforests and have never lived in Sindh.** Both need a lot of herbivorous wildlife to live off. Top order predators are not the easiest to sustain, unless everything else in the ecosystem is healthy.

Sindh and Punjab were famous for its large gainda population not so long ago. Babarnama mentions them. i doubt there are any left now.

I doubt the bold line considering folklore and language of Sindh which got specific words for Lion ‘Sheehan’ and Tiger ‘Wagha’. Indus river is famously known as Sheehn Darya (lion river in Sindh). May be areas of Sindh near Rajashtan didn’t have lions, but there were forests on banks of river Indus, so we can’t deny existence of these animals in Sindh.

Some unusual sightings of Asian Cheetah occurred in 2003 near the Balochistan Border in the Kirthar mountains. The pirrang (large tiger cat or fishing cat) of the eastern desert region is also disappearing. Deer are found in the lower rocky plains and in the eastern region, as well as the striped hyena (charakh), jackal , fox , porcupine , common gray mongoose and hedgehog . The mysterious Sindh krait of the Thar region, which is supposed to suck the victim’s breath in his sleep is widely found in the Tharparkar District of Southern Sindh.
