So I’m trying to do Linux again. Installed Ubuntu on a partition of a laptop and picked an old PC and installed Ubuntu server on it (yeah, I did install the GUI on it, I’m a n00b).
So far I have it working as a webserver, with SSh access and webmin installed. I was able to get Wordpress configured and just finished VPN configuration on it so I can get in from outside.
What other cool things can we start doing on this server?
Re: Linux users around?
good ole days - I used to be a Linux geek before crossing over to the dark side - still hope to return some day if I’m not bound by mainstream corporate IT culture.
What do you wanna do with the install Tofi? just exploring or something specific?
Re: Linux users around?
I have taken dabs at Linux over the years. I get into one flavor or the other and spend a few weeks on it and then would get involved with a project and won’t get time and then forget about it. I want to move into it 100% but considering I have to support WinTel and have to keep up with it, it becomes difficult to play around with other platforms.
This time I have a server and building a few websites on it and trying to make it secure. The production would still be on a commercial server but it keeps me occupied. So, I’m just playing, nothing specific. Getting back my “ls -l” on!
