Linkedin..

The professional networking site .. people get connected to each other randomly .. what happens next? what are the best ways to start a communication and get to know the business contact so that you can utilize their help for business or career opportunities in their organization in the future?

Re: Linkedin..

Linkedin?! It appears awkward to me, to put up one's entire education & career details over there,as it's visible to every one over the internet.

Re: Linkedin..

Dont know about Best ways but you can send the person a personal message and ask your basic questions i.e. whatever u are looking for. Mostly on that site are professionals and career oriented, so i dont expect anyone fake or someone looking for something else other than looking for contacts and job oppertunities.

Re: Linkedin..

Pinky, linkedin has proved to be one of the most powerful networking sites ... alot of large businesses use linkedin to recruit directly ...

Re: Linkedin..

We’ve talked about LinkedIn at length in the C& A forum esp. with reference to establishing a personal brand-ing strategy. Here are a couple of threads with good tips for getting started with LinkedIn or using it to its potential:

Re: Linkedin..

You have the ability to share as much or as little about yourself as you want to, and have people in your network see more and public profile fairly limited.

Re: Linkedin..

I dont know about the connecting randomly part, or the LIONs linked in open networkers..the vast majority of people in my network are people I have worked with, gone to school with or am friends with, there are business partners like suppliers, vendors, consultants. So starting communication is not an issue because there is an existing relationship.

Re: Linkedin..

Re: Linkedin..

It is a good website, all your information basically ur resume is public, my brother used it and I think professionals find you on that, well thats how I think he got his job. I'd go for it, its good, fast, and effective.

Re: Linkedin..

Join the groups of your interest or field. Most activities happen in groups.

Re: Linkedin..

when I compare twitter with Linkedin , I find twitter to be more on the lines of facebook :(

Linkedin is a whole lot more professional , the conversations are extremely mature and the groups present a perfect opportunity to network and share day to day info ..
