lining material advice

Hi girls,

can you suggest

  1. wt lining material i could use for needle impression/threads n motifs type clothes…dull silk, raw silk, medium silk?

  2. should i make raw silk pants or is there any other material you would recommend.

  3. has anyone tried this material for pants called cotton silk? i have seen it in khi only and was wondering how it is for pants…

Thanks

Re: lining material advice

  1. I just got a lot of formal and informal dresses made for someone and i used Atal for all the linings. There is good quality and there is bad so choose accordingly. The one that i liked a lot is called Malai Atal.

  2. Raw silk pants should work out fine. For the dresses i got made, i had a raw silk lehanga as well as shalwars for some suits. Again, if you want it thicker, get the good kind.

Raw silk and most silks when used for linings get static...Like Ira suggests "Attal" is a good fabric for lining.

Re: lining material advice

thanks! is malai attal called super attal as well?

Re: lining material advice

^ i have no clue, i only know it as malai atal. Its pretty soft, and feels much better and sturdier than the regular atal but still on the thin side.

Re: lining material advice

Super attal and malai attal are different. Super attal is equally good too. Medium silk is too light for linings IMO.

For pants, i like 80 grams raw silk or indian raw silk but 80 grams silk has gone too expensive.. Around 900rs for dyed pants fabric :bummer:

Re: lining material advice

thanks! not only have the prices shot up, also if u compare the same material with wt u bought a year or 2 back, materials are much much thinner now...sigh

Re: lining material advice

I noticed the price hike too, is it because of the wedding season in december?
