Lining Lower Lash Line-HOW?

I’ve allways darkened my water-line but recently I found out that lining the lower lash with black and using white on the water-line makes the eyes look bigger, so now how does one line the lower lash-line without making a mess?? both with an eye-pencil (I use maybelline collosal kajal) and with an Liquid eye-liner. Tips and Tricks will be highly wellcome, Thanks

Re: Lining Lower Lash Line-HOW?

I use a very dark black eye-shadow and a 'pencil' brush to line my lower lashline. I gently 'tug' the outer corner of my eye and line just 3/4 part of my lower lashline.. I use a lighter color near my tear-duct and blend it in really well with the black shadow.

Re: Lining Lower Lash Line-HOW?

With a liquid liner, I make small dots between my lower lashes, as if I was filling gaps. It looks natural.

And with a pencil, I'd look upwards in the mirror, bend my head a bit, then line through the eyelashes (if that makes sense lol). I'd start with the outer corner and finish till 3/4 of the eye. If I've made mistakes I'd take a cotton bud and blend away.

Re: Lining Lower Lash Line-HOW?

takes a great deal of practice......but yeah....I find that it makes my eyes look more open and larger too.

Thanks all! found your tips really helpfull :) now for the practise..

Re: Lining Lower Lash Line-HOW?

I don't like liquid or pencil for the lower lashline. Like Gina, I use black shadow.

I do my fluidline on the upper lashline with a flat angled brush, which means I don't need to pull or tug my eye as this will quite nicely draw a line without doing that. I may use some fluidline on the lower lashline if I want it to be really black, but then powder goes on top (or alone) to make the line softer.
I use the same brush (have a seperate one for shadow tho) and just do a lining action starting a bit on the outside and stopping at the inner third. Because you are using a brush with a long thin surface, you don't need to drag so much.

A square flat brush will achieve the same but the line is a bit more harsh.

(although to be honest, i can't find any vids of anyone who does what i do. their small angled brushes are thick and messed up and do horrible thick lines).

Re: Lining Lower Lash Line-HOW?

use black eyeshadow and an angle brush and line the lash line in small strokes.. its really easy this way! i think using liquid/gel liner would look too harsh

Re: Lining Lower Lash Line-HOW?

**This is the technique I use. I find it easier to see something and then copy it.

I line my water line with a white eye liner (something creamy so it goes on smooth and doesn’t irritate the eye).

You can either use an angled brush with black eye shadow, and sweep it, starting from the outside, working slowly to the inside, shading as you go.

You can also use a thin black eye liner pencil, as liquid liner will work, but will leave a very artificial look. With the pencil, same technique, start on the out side and make small and light strokes to the other side.

Use a smudge brush or a q-tip, to smooth out the line so it doesn’t look so fake, and blend it into your lash line.

Hope this helps!!!

Re: Lining Lower Lash Line-HOW?

I’am actually scared about using a black-eye shadow, doesn’t it spread or smudge?? and I basically want to incorporate this black-on-lash-line–white-on-water-line into my everyday look so I’m looking for something which can be done in under 5 minutes and will last atleast 6 hours(Impossible I know :bummer:)

so far during my practice sessions with a retractable eye-pencil, I’ve done 2 experiments.
EXP1- raising my head and then running the edge of the pencil along the lashes and then running a smudger to make it even.
EXP2- lowering my head and dotting the lash-line with the eye-pencil closely, 5-6 dots the size of the pencil nib and then joining them with a smudger.
I’ve found that the second method gives a more even line

But I would really like to know about the black eye-shadow thing.
