I don’t know if this has been suggested before, but I think it would be helpful to have an option where you can click “like” or “agree” (like on Facebook) in response to posts. It would show our support for the good ideas, without having to requote and confuse the direction of threads.

Like or agree button can rate the post, but GS is all about one on one interaction and nothing can replace a comment from a guppy that I dont agree with you and the discussion that follows that disagreement.
I like the idea though

instead of hiding the neg posts we just show the negatives it has received but still show the post.

I think this idea is just too impersonal.
The person who gets the feedback like this would want to know more than just a click of a button...by an unknown person, I might add.
