Like a Son

Re: Like a Son

This just means somewhere in the back of the mind, father differentiates b/w son and daughter :)

Re: Like a Son

A daughter being a daughter and acting like a daughter can always serve her parents in best possible ways. In my opinion it is a wrong approach in our society to equate daugthers to sons like this. This some how shows that parents still think that sons are better than daughters and they sort of rate their daugthers one step above by calling them sons.

No one might agree with my post but this was my view point i always had on this subject.

Re: Like a Son

it could mean she needs to thread her facial hair. or she blew thru dad's savings and has nothing to show for it. or that she can change a flat tire in 5 mins. or that dad is istupid. lots of possibilities.

Re: Like a Son

No no… i am totally agreed with you :k: :chai:

Re: Like a Son

i had no intention of engaging myself in a heated debate over this subject, thats why my words were very careful. Glad that i am not the only one with this kind of opinion

Re: Like a Son

^ Interesting that you are so careful with your opinions. I think there is nothing wrong in saying that such statements can be considered sexists.

Re: Like a Son

Ideally every couple who wants kids wud want a girl and a boy (at least one of each).

Now when a father or mother says to his daughter, "u r like a son to me" it wud mean that who needs a son when we have daughter like you.
