My baby is turning one soon, we have been using a Peg Perego travel system and have loved it. Now I am looking a for a lighter option to transition to. Something that can travel with easily since we are traveling to Europe in Jan. Any recommendations? Looking at spending around the 100-150 range! Thank you!
Re: Lightweight Stroller
if you can up the budget by a wee bit more (around $40), go with the britax b-agile.
we picked it up for our european travels with our 11 month old and it is UHMAYZING!
lightweight, folds up small enough to fit into the back of a tiny little hatchback rental car easily, but is actually a full sized stroller and not some piddly umbrella thing.
also has lots of other features.
check it (watch it all but esp. the way it folds): Baby Gizmo Britax B-Agile Stroller Review - YouTube
on amazon: Amazon.com: Britax B-Agile Stroller, Red: Baby
now that we’re back home, we continue using it and loving it just as much as when we bought it. its very well-made, the fabric is great quality, amd its been a lifesaver when the escalators at the subway station have been out of order and there’s no elevator. i can fold it up and carry with one hand, crossbody the diaper bag, and cart the kid with the other hand. i really can’t say enough good things about it.
(no, i don’t work for britax, but i should! ;))
Re: Lightweight Stroller
Thanks for the suggestion, i didn't look at Britax at all, even though i LOVE the Britax Roundabout convertible car seat I just bought for her. Will definitely go and check this out. I was almost set on the Maclaren Volo but was on the fence since it does not recline and she still falls asleep in the stroller a lot.
Re: Lightweight Stroller
we have Maclaren Volo.. I use it for evening walks and such but cant use it for much since it doesnt recline and he needs a bit of recline for drinking milk, sleeping etc.
buy the britax b agile!
Re: Lightweight Stroller
Isn't the B Agile too big as a traveling stroller? It seemed huge to me. We got the Mclaren Volo for one of our trips and hated it! It's so flimsy plus the seat has no padding at all. It's probably more appropriate for an older kid like 2+.
I've been looking at Uppa Baby G Lite and have heard really good reviews about it. The G Lite also has a Deluxe version which I love! Also look at Mclaren Techno since it has a fully reclining seat or the Mclaren Triumph.
Re: Lightweight Stroller
^ that's the best part! its a full size but it folds up small, and it's lightweight so you can push it/carry it easily. those were the two requirements for me for purchasing a travel stroller.
the ones classed as umbrella strollers are such a pet peeve of mine- i honestly don't know how the maclarens are so popular. they have virtually NO basket space, some of them don't recline, and all of them feel flimsy. the pushing is terrible too. plus, there's no room in there- my kid was in it at 10 months and shoulder to shoulder across the whole seat. at least with the b-agile, he's got plenty of room to grow and i don't have to worry about build quality or whether it'll be ok on cobble stoned streets or going across parks and lawns. the basket isn't the biggest but its decent and can hold quite a bit. i usually hang my diaper bag on the handle with stroller hooks and put my purse, a blanket and some toys in the basket. the sunshade is HUGE which is also great because whether he's upright or reclined, he's usually covered up to his knees.
i test drove the uppababy g-lite and g-luxe both. if you get them, go with the g-luxe. they're pretty and were sturdier than the maclarens for sure and they look great and are great for tall parents, esp, because the handle height is high BUT for $200-$250 (some of the maclarens are $300), again, the kid was in shoulder to shoulder, and with all the other things about it, there was just no contest against the b-agile. plus, the b-agile was on sale and it was under $200 when i bought it. can't beat that!
