Well, you have to start from somewhere and as “trickle down” would have it, you start at the top. When they aren’t safe, then the rest would keep their views to themselves.
In a way, they are following the quran. It is ironic considering the facts that quran doesn’t ask for burqa as then the hajj would have asked for it. Neither does quran ask for blasphemy law (there is of course god’s punishment on deniers) but then we use the sunnah and use some obscure examples for blasphemy laws that some sahabi did it, prophet muhammad didn’t kill that sahabi so logically, it is ‘a-ok’ to murder blasphemers following the Sunnah. Look at how this mullah doesn’t talk about sunnah now as the Prophet had many wives and it is written that like one time, he had an argument with Bibi Ayesha and his face was red, but he left the house instead of “lightly beating” his wife. No, I guess then the “sunnah” is too weak.
