Ooh, look who posted for the first time. :-p

Join a gym, or just make an effort to do some exercise on your own after work.

Re: Lifesyle of the finance folks

at the end of the year compare your W2 with your techie friends.. i'm sure any feelings of inadequacy would be replaced by a sudden desire to just buy bigger pants..

Re: Lifesyle of the finance folks

See..you need ot get up at 5:00am. Go downstairs and do some cardio for around 45 mins. With stretching and all...that will take you to 6:am. Hop in the shower, get ready, 6:35. Have a cup of coffee and a banana. Kiss the wife and kid and go off to work. (now commute is around 45 mins)..get to work around 8 am. Read the mornng call reports and make your international calls...this will take you to noon. Have your pre-lunch meeting. Go to lunch somewhere near by and have vegetables and non-fried meats little rice or bread. COme back to work around 1:45-3pm. Harass the analysts and associates in the daily briefing till 4:30 pm.
Head up to the gym in the building. Do weights and crunches. Come back to the office at 6:00 pm. Make calls and review terms sheets, valuations etc. for about an hour. Have the analyst or associate make a folder for you to review on the train if you plan to leave early for home.

(2 days a week, you will have business dinners and late nights among the ford modeling agency folks. Dancing is optional but recommended)

Get home around 8 pm. Hang with the wife and kid for about 1.5/2 hrs and then read a good book on PIPE's or Valuation techniques. Hit the sack around midnight.

IMPORTANT: Make sure you hit gupshup where it hurts atleast 3 times a day* (Analyst calls are the best time to do this)

Re: Lifesyle of the finance folks

whatpack? :hehe:
Just go to the gym after work, or early morning..
stop eating cakes and at morning teas just have tea/coffee, none of those fancy shmancy snacks..

Re: Lifesyle of the finance folks

IT Management - gained a kilo every month for half a year once I started working.

In the end, I had to basically eat less after I started work than I did before working.....

Re: Lifesyle of the finance folks

How old are you, anyway?

Anyone with the office-sitting life-style needs to take care of their health more carefully.

You can either follow Matsui's regimen. Which is actually fairly decent, assuming you are a gym-kinda person.

I have never been a regular gym person. What I do is to play tennis three times a week, for two hours each. Play cricket on Sat and Volleyball on Sunday. Keep an eye on the diet, and that pretty much makes sure the waist line doesn't go totally out of whack.

So, settle on a few games you enjoy playing (chess doesn't count, and video games are definitely not the way to go), and join a group of friends to play those regularly.

Re: Lifesyle of the finance folks

Take a run outside when you get home from work. If its dead cold, go to a gym. You'll meet pretty single women - consider that your motivation. And also all those built-up guys who ARE getting the pretty single women (the same females that look at you like you're a bug).

Re: Lifesyle of the finance folks

Shortcut!! If it's your stomache you're worried about then getting a lipo would be the fastest thing to do. But really your overall health is the main issue, so there is no shortcut. It's a lifestyle issue. I agree with everyone that you need a healthier diet combined with more activity. You may be young but you can't take a chance with all the high blood pressure, cholesterol, and heart problems that exist in our people. (Well in my family anyways..cancer and diabetes too.) Sometimes it feels like our bodies are just ticking timebombs and it's careless to take it for granted. I hope you can feel healthier..no pain, no gain.
