How good would you say is the advice given on Life1 by guppies?
Who actually follows the advice given here? who totally ignores it?
Alot of times you get two conflicting pieces of advice in the same thread…in that case which one do you follow? the guppies whos advice you trust or anyones?
ive noticed the majority of responses i get here are not relevant (alot of times the guppies giving advice have no experience in that field.) and i wouldnt follow that advice…for many reasons. does anyone else feel this way?
I started a thread once in this forum and I got advice in both directions. I followed the one that just made more sense for me.
Some people are actually really good in these discussions even if they oppose our opinion.
You can never rely on advice given by guppies (especially on domestic issues), most of the times it's just their opinion and not everyone is going to be right.
On the other hand, you can get some valuable advice about health, skincare, lenses, beauty etc etc
the only reason i discuss some issues here is to get different views from different ppl. it kinda opens up a whole new prespective. things tat u didnt take into consideration sometimes some guppies bring it up.
so i wudnt say i'm here for any specific advice... i find everyone's opinion very helpful.
anyways no matter wat, we still have to make our own choices.
If ur to open a thread on public fora, you are naturally going to get all sorts of replies, pov's.
the nonsensical posts are removed by the moderators. so what's the issue then? that you don't like some of the opinions expressed or you feel you wouldn't get any reasonable (acc to you) advice here. in that case, one can abstain from making new threads, cos if you do, the least you can expect is people saying what they feel about the matter under discussion. you can think over the advice you feel may help, pay no heed to that which you feel wont.
I think it also depends on the poster. It's very hard, within a few lines, to convey the complexity of your situation sometimes, so people will give advice based on what you tell them, but without having a complete understanding of you and your environment. That's why you listen to what's been said, see if it seems reasonable, and then consider the consequences for your own situation.
There are some guppies/guppans who regularly post thoughtful and mature advice, and I think I would seriously consider those when making a decision.
I wouldnt call it good or bad but like others have said, its always a good thing to get another point of view on a situation. Especially when its from parties that are not involved in the situation at hand. More knowledge is always better than less knowledge.
Some times an uninvolved person can provide a much better and unbiased advice. Unfortunately most people just jump on an opinion band-wagon over here. So it really depends on the quality of information provided and the experience/knowledge of the person providing the advice.

I tend to open threads here to get rid of my frustrations or tension and then I see what kind of advice ppl come up with. if there are any useful, I think about them to relate them to my actual personal situation which guppies dont have deep knowledge about from a short post.
i think that you have to be able to sort through the posts, and look for ones that apply to your situation, and i think the best thing about the forum is that sometimes people give you advice or ideas that you would have never thought of by yourself.
