Well - the ban prevented him from being involved with any aspects of cricket including administration, coaching etc.

He says he now wants to setup his own academy.

I want to join the Saleem Malik academy. I don't think it will be long before I could be considered for selection. :p

True, it was really shameful he wasn’t allowed to play one of those charity old timers match either; he played one and boy did he nail the Indian old timers all over the place lol!

I think he was a great batsman and a good captain. I bet Kapil Dev still has nightmares about when he was blasted for 5 Fours in an over by Malik. Read more about it, how he turned the tide on the Indians.

Also, how can we forget his heroics where he took on the mighty Windies pace attack with a plastered broken arm (thanks to Courtney Walsh). He would often switch from being right handed to left handed because of the pain he was in, and nevertheless saved the game for Pakistan. If you are in a situation like this, the last thing you can ask for is an Ambrose/Walsh pace attack.

I dont think that’s true, after that he bounced back with a successful series in England, which included a 150+. Also, his career took off again in 1994 as he had the highest batting average for Pakistan (suprisingly took alot of wickets too, and was a good fielder), along with a test series home win against Australia in 1994 under his captiancy (not many Pakistani captains have done that), where he had a double century in Rawalpindi as well as another century in Lahore.

Also, I think he should be made the betting coach, I mean the batting coach :hehe: The guy had technique, our youngsters can learn a thing or two from him.
