I just watched this movie. I had seen its preview couple of times and the story did look a bit predictable but I rented for Kevin Klien anyway. Love the man. He’s a great actor. He can amuse and engage you on the screen.
It’s a little coying melodramatic, trying-to-make-you-feel-good-and-appreciate life typa movie. Not a bad choice for Xmass evening but the whole things was a bit to obvious and lame. Building a house has great potential for a good symbolism that revolves around life but your audience are a lot more intelligent and saavy. Now, if the mode of the movie is something along the lines of “The Great Canyon” then it can still work.
Small, everyday life stuff builds a lot. Anything beyond that is overly done.
