Life after death

My question is specifically addressed to those, who says that meaning of the Quran is not to be taken literally.

If its not to be taken literally how would you explain almost 1/3rd of Quran revolving around day of judgement, meezan, pul siraat and entering of people into Jannat (heaven) and Dozakh (hell)?

Re: Life after death

Just wanted to know their opinion, however, it differ from mine. I hope it will further strengthen my understanding

Re: Life after death

No one got answer of that?

Life after death

There are literal verses as well as metaphorical verses in Quran.

Re: Life after death

so which category the verses related to life after death (forming almost 1/3 of Quran) relate?

Life after death

Depending on which particular verse you're talking about. Quran is not categorized topic wise. You cannot say all verses which is related to whichever topic are all either literal or metaphorical.

Re: Life after death

My question is about the general concept of Aakhirat. I want to know whether or not the verses which relates to day of judgement and making the dead alive are literal or metaphorical. If they are metaphorical, why they were so much emphasized?

Re: Life after death

As a Muslim, we must have belief on the day of judgement. Believing in literal or metaphorical way of making the dead alive will not hurt your belief.

Some say the verses meant literally, others argue they are in metaphorical sense, while there are some who say its the mixture of both. It doesnt matter which side you believe in.. what's important is that you have firm belief on the day of judgement.

Re: Life after death

Muqawee bhai, there are lots of hadees too on this topic :hmmm:

Re: Life after death

Yes, but I want to know the views of those who consider that there is something else behind literal meaning of those verses and ahadees.

Re: Life after death

Peace Muqawee,

I didn’t understand your question exactly. What Mullahs are saying and what verse should/shouldn’t taken literally? Plz explain with a example. :jazak:

Re: Life after death

LKK some people believe that there is nothing like Pulsiraat and Meezan and there is nothing like Soor e Israfil. These are only metaphors. But whenever I read Quran, every second page contain a verse for Aakhirat. If it was only metaphor, why is it so much emphaised? If it is a metaphor, what does it actually mean?

Re: Life after death

muqa: to whom you consider liberal mulla?

Re: Life after death

who emphasise metaphorical meaning in accordance with their convinience

Re: Life after death

i m still in shadow of your too general answer. name one. :D you know it could help us to understand over all perspective of their interpretation and could add meaningful stuff about them. :@:
