Most of the threads in life one are posted to discuss bad things about individual who mostly likely are not a member of this forum.
Discussing such person who doesn’t know that we are criticizing him/her in his/her absence doesn’t it qualify as gheebat and inst it one of the worst sins we can do ?
So true Brother, dil ki baat kahi. But at the same time i’m sure many will come and defend their actions, last but not the least please be aware, you speak the truth and nobody can change that no matter what. Cheers
Well My post isnt a statement rather its a question, asking if it is indeed gheebat.
As a child the definition of Gheebat i learnt was “peeth peechay kisi ki burai kerna” I dunt think reading the thread counts as gheebat, but posting a comment on thread criticizing someone you dont even know or criticizing someone on his back without knowing his side of story does seem like gheebat.
Yes it is gheebat. And we should refrain from it. However, given that we are human beings, we will come here, say all this good stuff and get back to doing it again. Life.
I get your point of view, but if someone (lets say a DIL since isn’t that generally the case) does vent/backbite here and is therefore calmer at home, which ultimately keep the peace in her house isn’t that sort of good? Also, a lot of the time people ask each other for advice (whilst venting) which I would hope helps them make the right decisions in their lives.
I haven’t really formed my own opinion on this yet though :S
I’m not sure if we could call it backbiting since the audience doesn’t really know the person in question. So it’s like talking about someone anonymous, which wouldn’t end up defaming them as long as we don’t know them. Of course, if people do know the person being talked about, then that would change everything (i.e. be backbiting).
Wouldn’t even seeing a counsellor or psychiatrist be termed ‘backbiting’ as well going by the definition of some on here?
Obviously there’s a difference between genuinely seeking help and advice and just ‘venting’ and letting off steam but I do think sometimes specific details are needed rather than just a vague post from the OP..
this is one such thaka hua thread. I refuse to agree with it. we do not backbite. We face problems, we come for sharing so that we could extract a positive outcome to the solution. Most of the time neither the thread starter mentions nor we guppies know any details of the people under discussion. The discussion itself is always general. Where does backbiting come in here? This is sad people have such distorted perspectives.
