~! Liberating Veil - beautiful read.

Re: ~! Liberating Veil - beautiful read.

this reminds me of something i saw in karachi

i was in a park with a guppy, we were chatting, it was evening...
and there a couple close to us, romantic scene, the guy and girl was good looking, they were hugging and talking with low romantic voices.... and the girl was in see through tight fashionable shalwar qameez.

after some time they got ready to leave, the girl put a black abaya on her see trough dress, and a black hijaab on her done haristyle, and then a niqaab on her heavy make up:D.....

no doubt sexy girls are the most covered in pakistan, they fear more the rapes than fat aunties ;)

Re: ~! Liberating Veil - beautiful read.

:hoonh:

No Misssy, girls dont get raped in pakistan. Abaya or no abaya,

It is just a dress which looks apealing to they eyes , cause it resembles some sensuous dress :stuck_out_tongue: and the veil spice up the mystery of alreay heavenly eyes  :k:

Re: ~! Liberating Veil - beautiful read.

Why you girls taking an article written by a westerner this seriously?

FYI, I changed my views, now I believe hijab is highly recommended not mandatory. BTW It works, I have so much respect for hijabans, my eyes go str8 down without even thinking.

Re: ~! Liberating Veil - beautiful read.

ok, sorry…someone told me girls wear it cause dad forces them:confused:

hmm her lover seemd to prefer th see through tight shalwar qameez, to the full abaya/niqaab:halo:

Re: ~! Liberating Veil - beautiful read.

Afridi :k:

Re: ~! Liberating Veil - beautiful read.

I'd think that a lot more people would be wearing hijab if it was mandatory, unless of course ummah is heading in a big downwards spiral...(moderately downwards spiral rite currently)...so sad.

Re: ~! Liberating Veil - beautiful read.

prayers are madatory , but there are lots of people who don’t do it…
do you think ummah is heading down? i’m not so sure because i have no benchmark to tell me the percentage of muslims who were “practising” in the past, and compare to today’s figures…
firthermore, there are no studies which tells us how many muslims are “practising”?

are all men going to masjids on friday? and from all those who go there once w week how many times are they praying at home…and what about women, we are not supposed to spy them:D…

basically there no way to tell what’s going on, the only thing we know for sure, is what we do ourselves, and try to be better, ameen :rose:

Re: ~! Liberating Veil - beautiful read.

i agree noor…girls do care too much about fashion and the way they look. However..in my opinion this is why i think hijab “liberates” women. They dont have to focus so much on lookiong good for other people…at least they arent suppose to. anyway off topic.

Re: ~! Liberating Veil - beautiful read.

good reply

Re: ~! Liberating Veil - beautiful read.

i both agree and not agree with you…
in a way it’s true, in other it’s not…cause men use it as an excuse, like "o that poor girl who can do nothing on her own cause she has to cover up, and can’t do anything alone cause she needs a mehram with her…you need freedom? marry me i have lot of money you’ll stay in my house forever and no need to worry, you’ll be “free” ":bummer:

Re: ~! Liberating Veil - beautiful read.

Haan toh? I never said girls who wore hijab are ugly :konfused: In fact I know many girls who are absolutely beautiful and drop dead gorgeous [when they are showing hair, wearin gnice clothes, makeup etc at all-female gatherings] but when they wear hijab they look very plain.. i respeck em for it :salute:

Re: ~! Liberating Veil - beautiful read.

I am not sure you are talking about girls of which region.

In all countries, culture dictates dress and with fashion a major influence.

In Pakistan culture dictates modest dress for both men and women. Which is Shalwar kamez for girls and women predominently. and for all purpose hijab niqab etc they have chadar ( you have visited south east asia, you should know ) or Burqa

Just as you are mentioning ‘see through’ dress so frequently, just to clarify this dress always has some other extra cloth (dopata/chadar) which conceals most of the body, unless some girl is dying to reveal

As the climate of this region is very hot (mostly) so men and women wear very light cloths (cotton ) which can become see through in some cases but there are many workarounds

Just as popular culture dictates modesty so fathers in pakistan usually remain indifferent because they assume that popular culture is effectively enforcing minimum level of modesty. Beyond that is choice of an individual :k:

Not the case for Muslim families living in west where religious parents fear great deal of popular culture so *they *dictate dress code which mostly goes to the boundries of maximum level of modesty… as a result it reduce the freedom to dress and fashion to almost nill. and the clash begins

Abaya and hijab, these are foreign dresses for pakistan ,they are of arabic origin adopted by muslims all over the world for the sake of convenience and fashion.

I dont know but there hell of a difference in a girl chadar with niqab and abaya+niqaab. One is hot and sensuous and other is uhh whatever

Re: ~! Liberating Veil - beautiful read.

I am not talking abt hijab. hijab is blah … I said Abaya and niqab - :google:
You can never understand this. This is a guy thing :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: ~! Liberating Veil - beautiful read.

Same thing ot me :bummer:
