LIAR LIAR.. Pants in HELLFIRE

Do your children lie to you? On your face? Did you lie to you parents when you were younger and got away with it? How many of you got caught and what were the consequences.

Re: LIAR LIAR.. Pants in HELLFIRE

okay mine does or did.

I told her to finish her PBJ sandwich. I asked her whether she finished the whole sandwich including the crusts. She looked me straight in the eye and said "yes". I asked her again - "YES - of course mommy."

She's a slow eater so I was suspicious to being with.

So I am cleaning the kitchen drawer and lo and behold - there is half eaten sandwich with the crust still intact. I was furious.

I talked to her that it's okay for her to tell me that she doesn't want to eat versus lying to me.

What can I do??? I am concerned that this doesn't become a habit and she gets use to taking the easy way out.

Re: LIAR LIAR.. Pants in HELLFIRE

i always lied to my parents that i took the medicine n was always caught :( but still didnt stopped n kept doing this

Re: LIAR LIAR.. Pants in HELLFIRE

i used to be able to lie quiet easily to my parents without a tinge of guilt. but as i'm growing older i find it harder and harder to do so. shouldn't it be the opposite?

Re: LIAR LIAR.. Pants in HELLFIRE

this reminds me of my own childhood, i have never been a very good eater and i used to hide my roti or food and tell my father that i finished it.
sometimes he would find out and scolded me but it didnt change me. i just could not finish my food and had to lie.

if its many different things the kid is lying about, i would get concerned but not just for the food stuff (may be because i did it myslef)

Re: LIAR LIAR.. Pants in HELLFIRE

No it's good because you are building a conscience.

I know it's not a big deal since she's so young but lying is a shortcut to getting what she wants. I rather her be up front and say that she is not hungry or doesn't want to. (even though I won't let her get away with that as well).

Re: LIAR LIAR.. Pants in HELLFIRE

maybe she lies it because she thinks she'll get in trouble otherwise

Re: LIAR LIAR.. Pants in HELLFIRE

haha njgal i remember u saying..."i lied may way through school" [to your mother]

and yea i have seen young kids make up stuff on the spot=\ and then it stays as they grow up :S

Re: LIAR LIAR.. Pants in HELLFIRE

I did :D and that's why I want her to be strong. I am BIG wus when it comes to confrontations and I don't want her to be.
