Yeah some people blame him for quaids death that he delibrately didnot send the ambulance to ziarat.He was pro UP and he is accused of giving lands to UP walas.He had a soft stance on kashmir etc.
But the fact is quaid e millat was a great leader people can accuse him but he gave everything for pakistan.Secondly there was also an incident where he refused to go to US because the americans were giving him less protocol than indian PM at that time and said that he should be recieved at the airport just like the indian PM.
Thanks for the information but I am still not clear as to why he was pro-UP if he was originally from Punjab? I guess he was helping UPites settle down in the newly formed country.. I might be wrong though. What did he speak in- Punjabi or Urdu during his speeches he gave in Punjab? In Lahore they speak broken Urdu-very punjabized but deep in Punjab they speak only Punjabi or Seraiki... even in some parts of Karachi they speak Punjabi.
mulz saab haryana was part of punjab but the language spoken in the border areas of UP,dehli and rajhasthan was hindi/urdu .The haryanvi dialect is close to rajhasthani.It is a mixture of hindi/urdu and punjabi .So muslims of east punjab from cities like amritsar,jallandar and other cities of present Indian punjab used to speak punjabi but muslims from present haryana used to speak hindi/urdu.Just look at the state of haryana is some indian map and I think you will be able to know why they speak hindi/urdu.
harayana,himachal pradesh and punjab were part of former east punjab but after partition the indian government divided punjab and made three states out of it harayan and himachal are hindi speaking states and punjab is punjabi speaking state
i dont know about the language used in his speeches in punjab.I think urdu but I am not sure but it is not that difficult for the people of haryana to speak punjabi.
hindi is spoken all over india in UP,UA,Bihar,jharkand,madya pradesh chattisgarh rajhastan and haryana I think now you have got some idea why liaquat ali khan was urdu speaking and pro UP.Its just like seraiki which is spoken in south punjab upper sindh.border of balochistan with punjab and dera ismail khan(NWFP)
gotcha, syed saab. I guess technically he wasnt mohajir then. he was more like inzamum-ul-haq whose family also migrated from the present day haryana. People just voice their opinions without ascertaining the facts. Hindi is immensely popular in India. I was listening to BBC and they said that Hindi now is 2nd most spoken langauge in the world after chinese. Hindi left behind English like 3-4 years ago. They were analyzing that Hindi+Urdu+Punjabi (All would have given Mandarin a hard time as far number of native speakers go. Anyway, thanks pra for information

Contrary to some sikhs remaining in Pakistani Punjab, there are no Muslim Punjabis remaining in Indian punjab.
