Re: Liabilities of being a Muslim at WORPLACE
Alhamdulillah the fact that I am a practicing muslim doesn't affect my work relationships - either with colleagues or customers.
My work colleagues are exceptionally accomodating of things like time off for Eid, me working as and when I please (literally) during Ramzan - well I come in after sehri and leave earlier in the day - in return, I but chocolates/buiscuits and send a thankyou email when I return after Eid.
They didn't bat an eyelid when I began wearing the hijaab, they accomodate my dietary requirements at meetings/away days, and accept that I won't go to xmas parties as I don't feel comfortable around those who are drinking.
Our customers abnd suppliers always think and at at key times when they give bottles of wine as presents they always get me a box of no alcohol chocs from Thorntons.
Being muslim isn't like being disabled or anything where adaptations have to be made in the workplace - therefore we aren't a liability!
It's just a case of accepting others beliefs and customs. Those who discriminate are the minority you'll find.
