LHC orders removal of containers from Islamabad

The petition was filed by president of district bar association Raja Nasir Mahmood.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered to immediately remove all the containers placed on roads leading to Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

The judge of Lahore High Court (Rawalpindi bench) heard the petition pertaining to the closure of main roads of twin cities.

The petition was filed by president of district bar association Raja Nasir Mahmood.

After hearing the arguments, the court directed the attorney general and advocate general Punjab to immediately remove containers placed to block routes leading to Rawalpindi and Islamabad. A report has also been sought in this regard.

The court said it was the basic right of every individual to move freely in the country. The court said no road should be blocked by placing containers.

Re: LHC orders removal of containers from Islamabad

Does that mean Govts. are barred from blocking roads in order to prevent rallies in the future?

Re: LHC orders removal of containers from Islamabad

Does Lahore High Court have jurisdiction over Islamabad?

Re: LHC orders removal of containers from Islamabad

Future? What future? Govts only operate in "present", baad ki baad mai dekhi jaye gi

Re: LHC orders removal of containers from Islamabad

Ah yes. That is also an unfortunate fact in Pakistani politics. :hehe:

Re: LHC orders removal of containers from Islamabad

i've heard that police hijacks the containers, often with good in them (even perishable). it's not fair! are the owners of those containers compensated in any way for the duration they are taken away?

let's see if the SS will respect court orders. he hasn't so far. he has refused to register FIR. PPP was better as they accepted the removal of Gilani.

now, Bhai from London is weighing his options. DR. Ishrat ul Ibad's speech was indicative of that. MQM may join the dharna if requested by IK or T-u-Q
