Re: Lets Translate Punjabi Phrase into English
There will be plenty of other Punjabi phrases which cant be translated. I just speak the Punjabi for normal usage, therefore wont be aware of many of those. :D

Re: Lets Translate Punjabi Phrase into English
A real life scenario...when my in-laws came home the first time to meet me and my family formally. I am a Telugu (a south-Indian) and married to a Sardarji from Indian Punjab.
My dad on seeing my in-laws: **...** (and a big grin on his face)
My FIL- Furious and MIL - Curious (on hearing this word)
Now, "*****" in Telugu means "Please come". This is the most respectful way of inviting someone into your home.
A few minutes later...
My FIL: Talking about his 2 mundey and what they do and their jobs and interests...
My dad: Furious and curious. (Munda in Telugu is the same as what ***** in Punjabi means)
Me, my brother, my BIL and SIL (who understand a little Telugu, they are doctors and served in rural parts of Andhra Pradesh) were having a ball of time laughing at our parents. After a few minutes of our parents talk, we had to intervene to explain the meanings as both our parents were thinking that each one is cursing the other!:D
The ***** is ran**!
