Let's talk BREAD!!!!!

Re: Let's talk BREAD!!!!!

Sheermal and Taftaan are another of my favorite .. I am sorry but I could never develop the taste for Kulcha though I am sure that it must be really tasty ..

here in dubai...we get the thyme bread @ romano's macaroni grill and its lovely with olive oil...
i also liked the idea of carino's..they give u fresh toasted bread and then put minced roasted garlic in a plate and put seasoned O/O over that..dats the dipping... amazing...

but Tony Roma's even better...they give u garlic butter with the freshly baked bread...and never mind how many times u ask them to bring :D..but i dont like Chili's...TGI Friday's..Ruby Tuesday..Applebee's...they dont give u any such appetizer..:-/ toooo bad..:(

when i was in saudia...their local chain..SteakHouse...dat was indeed fantastic...we tested and even re-re-tested their entire menu till the time we were in saudia...they really fill u up...first the whole-wheat bread and butter...then variety of sooooooo many salads that none of the int'l chains carry...alongwith two soups...and then ur ordered item with refillable drinks...and after that Patchi chocolates...i miss them..ohh breads.. yeah...not to mention..Desi items like butter nan, garlic naan, cheese naan..thanks i too get them in dubai as frozen..now i always keep some at home.:P ..aloo parahta, qeema and chicken naan or paratha..

even garlic bread from pizza hut..really awesome...even more when its super supreme :D i.e. with peperoni and mozzarella..

can someone tell me the recipe for thyme bread?

Ok, only bake the rolls for 12-15 mins until light golden.

Plus my receipe does not use milk powder, ghee or an egg. This must make it very very heavy!

This is my dough receipe for the rolls.

550g of strong bread flour - white or brown.
1 1/4 tsp yeast
2tsp sugar
1 1/4 tsp salt
2 tbs oil
320ml water.

Mix all slowly until it become a smooth dough. My bread machine does all the mixing so i just leave it to do for 2.20hrs. Afterwards, make them into balls - leave them to prove/rise. Brush with egg or milk and bake them for12-15mins.

Try this recipe and let me know how it turns out...

Re: Let’s talk BREAD!!!

Im an expert at making sweet rolls (and I alter the recipe to make them savory or sweeter) all the time. I’ve been following this recipe from allrecipes : Sweet Dinner Rolls - All Recipes

I just find that the dough is dry with the measurements provided, so each time I just add extra butter, extra milk and I use around 2 1/2 to 3 tsp of yeast. They turn out yummm and totally dissolve in your mouth! If I know that we’ll be having burgers down the week, or even seekh kababs, I just make these in advance and lessen the sugar. Or else for making them as sweet rolls, I increase the sugar and sometimes also add sweetened shredded coconut, or sprinkle sugar on top after a coating of butter.

I would recommend all bread lovers to give this lady’s recipe a try. It turns out absolutely fab each time!!!

Re: Let’s talk BREAD!!!

Thanks for posting the recipes above, girls. I plan to try them out:)

Below is the link that has the recipe for Red Lobster’s Cheddar Bay biscuits. The recipe calls for Bisquick (which unfortunately contains lard)….BUT the link also has a replacement for Bisquick that contains VEGETABLE shortening. So here it is.

Re: Let's talk BREAD!!!!!

Bhenjee, could you plz give accurate measurement for extra butter, extra milk. thank you

Re: Let's talk BREAD!!!!!

No probs guys! I believe we could also make them look prettier with a sprinkling of poppy/sesame seeds, but I get serious nosebleeds with those so I haven't tried.

Same, let's see. I believe it says to use around a third of a cup of butter. I mostly melt in the microwave a stick of butter (for 15-20 secs) which equals a half cup of butter and drizzle that into my stand mixer as the dough is coming together. If I find that I still need more I just drizzle some olive oil into it. To be honest, I've never really measured and it's never tasted anything less than awesome even with the butter/evoo mix.

You will know with your dough if it needs more butter. If there's too much flour left around which wont come together with the dough, add more grease. Or, STOP pouring all the 1/2 cup butter into your dough if you find that it's already reached the consistency you want.

Redvelvet: Can't wait to try out the cheddar bay biscuits.. yummm O
