I wouldn't read too much into the initial 15 man squad yet, since PCB has gained permission to replace injured players. So probably what will be announced will be more like a wish list than anything else. It's only right before the actual tournament when all the injuries are sorted out that we will know the true squad.
I agree with sirdigalot, Butt should be in the squad, if for nothing else then just for justice's sake since Farhat has been getting a free ride for a while now. Our current lot of openers all combined have not played as many match winnings as Butt has.
Also, considering our meagre bowling resources, I would have Kaneria in the team. Instead of having Rana bowling half volleyes and short pitched crap, I would rather have Kaneria even if he does go for a bit. There is more chance of getting a wicket.
Plus does anyone have any news on Umar Gul's mystery injury? I recall clearly before the 2nd test that he was fit and all set to play but Bari said that they wouldn't just to be extra careful. Ever since then he has disappeared, the mind boggles.

Play this team (as it is regardless of Injury worries, lack of match practice etc). We need to get rid of the omen, Akmal.
This lineup saves one opener slot, Younis has played more balls in first 5 overs than any opener :p so why waste a slot for someone who shines in 1 out of 5 innings anyways. We need to bring either Asim or Bazid to reinforce our batting lineup to prevent collapses. In bowling, It is always good to add a test-caliber, technically solid but turtle-pace batsman to hold the collapse. Yousuf and Inzi can pile up the runs later on once collapse is prevented. Hafeez, Malik, Afridi and Razzaq are good enough for middle overs. Umer and Asif will be spearhead. Afridi can be sent on 4th or 5th position if required to reduce RRR in some conditions, but play him after Inzi otherwise. This gives you 8 batsmen and 6bowlers.

Right on dude!
It's much easier to train Asim Kamal to not lose his wicket than help Imran Nazir and Farhat understand that it's okay to stay at the crease for more than a couple of overs.
